Walking 36:40 [1] 2.82 km (13:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

I finally took my bike into the repair shop to get an estimate. It was a mental hurdle more than anything that it took this long. Just never felt like dealing with it.

Orienteering race 19:31 [4] 2.26 km (8:38 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Reran the Sprint Course from May 27. The running to the first two controls was quite a workout. The grass was knee high. The feature from Control 4 was no longer around. The growth of the vegetation since May 27 was incredible. Oh well I wanted a high intensity workout, that's what I got. Ran with my GPS pulling waypoints at the controls to keep myself honest.

Facebook posting on the Kid Course tonight

I have contacted the powers to be for the Cave Creek and Rough River State Park meets. I have to go down there and get the courses approved. Because of the Dam construction I have to run everything past the Army Corp of Engineers this year so I don't put anything into a restricted area.

I did Facebook post #2 on the Goat tonight. I just hope some of the 20 or so that came to most of the sprints will make the transition to a regular meet.

Walking 35:16 [1] 2.82 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Did the first Face book post with the basics tonight. I get so frustrated that you have to tell people about poison ivy and bugs. But I hear from others that so and so got poison ivy real bad or got 100 chigger bites and is not coming back. They were wearing shorts and no bug spray.

But people don't know this anymore. We also had some meet directors post there was no poison ivy, you can run the course in shorts. I do the course and find not only are we running thru poison ivy but the chiggers are bad. We loose a couple more people. It's just frustrating!

Walking 34:35 [1] 2.82 km (12:16 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

We had the awards ceremony for the sprint series. Louie was MC for it. I thought it went well. It was our first try at this. We had about 30 people there several of them just started this summer with the club. We made an emphasis of getting people to our Saturday meets.

I will be starting tomorrow putting out facebook posts about the Goat meet on 09/13 to get our newcomers comfortable with the meet format. Bruce is going to help me with the meet marketing using the latest social media. It cannot hurt to try to see what comes of it.

Mapping 3:35:00 [3] 9.66 km (22:15 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

I felt blessed today, while I was mapping a large limb from the neighbors tree fell across the driveway where I park the old Mazda.

Spent some time out at Taylorsville Lake mapping. Great solitude, Silence is golden!

I have been going thru the equipment getting ready for the Saturday meets. I tried using superglue on a couple finger sticks that the end had snapped off. I will test them later when I run the simulation for the goat.

Our equipment has aged, so it now requires watching over. There are always electronic controls that fail the voltage test. Finger sticks that the ends break off, control stands that require repairs.
