Tomorrow is surgery day. I am having a 2 cm growth from a tick bite cut out. Doctor does not know what it is or why it keeps growing. It get's sent off for analysis. Not sure if this will sideline me or not.

Paddling part of AR - 5.9 KM of paddling. I got the 3 minimum required controls. The neat one was the cemetery on Goat Island. I have never paddled with anyone but my wife and son-in-law, and we are self taught. I had no conditioning for this not having paddled since last October. I also realized that others had techniques that I had never developed, so I will watch some video to see if I cannot learn additional skills as well. All 5 of the controls would be within reach with conditioning and more technique. Of course the racers using the $3,000 streamlined kayaks will always be faster.

Foot portion of AR - 8.3 KM. I got 6 of the 8. The two I did not get would be available to anyone running and with reasonable NAV skills. The woods were fairly white here.

Bike part of AR - 9.3 KM. I got the minimum 3. There were 6 controls. I really struggled, the chain fell off twice. I did not enjoy the one rutted trail littered with loose rocks. But being honest with some practice, adjustments to the bike and a different mental attitude - there's no reason I could not get all 6. This was actually the easiest part of the meet. Special thanks to Carl who stopped after the chain fell off a 2nd time and offered some important advice - stay in the middle gears until you get it adjusted.

There was also an optional time trial on the bike that I did not do.

Note

Travel day - Got in about 8:00 tonight. Smacked my tailbone pretty hard during the bike part of the AR. Chain fell off twice. Had a lot of problems on the bike part, but the rest of the AR went smoother. Learned a lot still a lot to process. Large Crowd there several OLOU members. I think I knew about 30 of the 100 there.

More to post later on - I ran a GPS track and hope it worked.

Got the bike and kayak packed for the adventure race. Heading out tomorrow it's a 4 hr drive to the SW from here. The bike lays on top of the kayak pretty well in the back of the pickup truck. Been battling an ingrown toenail on the right foot and a nasty bruise on the bottom of the left foot. It seems like it's always something.
