Orienteering race 1:38:04 [3] 5.78 km (16:58 / km)
shoes: INOV TERROC 330

Orienteering long course Very distracted running for me. The lack of sleep was evident. I showed up at the park without the equipment had to ride back to house to get it and come back. Download box was not cleared before the start of the meet. All the usual stuff that results from a lack of focus when I'm worn out. I'm really starting to burn out. There was about 70 at the meet.

I had planned on dusting off the kayak today but got overruled by my daughters. Instead I conducted batting practice and fielding practice with my grandson.

Biking 1:20:30 [3] 17.8 km (4:31 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Final bike ride before the adventure race. My route today included over 4KM of single track trail including a steep downhill and uphill, there was also a jump on this. I wanted to see how the hybrid handled. Not well, it was muddy from the rain last night and I thought it would be perfect test conditions.

Wiped out a few times, took a chunk out of the front of my right leg right above the sock. It did not take long to realize on any steep downhill or uphill I will be walking the bike. I'm not sure even if I had a $3,000 mountain bike I would have been much better. I just don't have any experience at it.

The good : I spent almost 1.5 hrs in the saddle, no hand numbness all my adjustments have paid off there. The compression shorts took care of the groin issues I had previously. So on a hard surface or fairly level ground I'm good.

The obvious: get the minimum bike checkpoints and concentrate on foot and paddling. Or look for bike controls near the road or logging roads.
