Orienteering 3:15:00 [3] 9.35 km (20:51 / km)
shoes: INOV TERROC 330

Setting controls in the rain at Camp Stem - between Jim and I we got out 20 of the 31. Jim covered 5.35 KM to put out his 8 today. We were both using a GPS to check our control placement.

Orienteering race 33:00 [4] 2.7 km (12:13 / km)
shoes: INOV TERROC 330

First time I have run since January. Real disappoint, I thought #3 had been stolen and ran back up to the meet director, wasted a lot of time. Map was just bad, missing trail and bad vegetation boundary on map. Need to look past that kind of stuff.

Walking 34:15 [1] 2.82 km (12:09 / km)

Biking 25:00 [1] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Really glad I got the bike and did not put if off any longer. I did some riding around the neighborhood and did some of the simple adjustments. On my final ride, the bike helmet fell off. The clasp had broken. I could only find one of my bike gloves. Oh well, I will make a trip to the store tomorrow. My classic equipment I bought in the 1990's is going to need to be replaced.

Walking 34:16 [1] 2.82 km (12:09 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

I got the map completed for the Camp Stem Rogaine. I will set controls on W and Th. Very interesting place. Part of the Camp borders the Ohio River. The Map reminds me of Camp Randsburg. Very sharp contours except for the NE part of the map which is flat with lot's of depressions and pits. This is the kind of place if you loose map contact you will be lost. Never been somewhere with so many gas pipelines. The map is honey combed with them.

I started working on the U of L Campus map and the scale issue. I reread all the emails from last fall when the problem was determined. I also did some measuring on the base map using the scale tool on Google earth and comparing them to the OCAD measurements for the same line. The conclusion I reached was the scale on the base map is incorrect. At any rate, I'm letting some others weigh in on it before changing the base map scale.

Orienteering race 1:58:33 [3] 7.48 km (15:51 / km)
shoes: INOV TERROC 330

I went to the Mt Saint Francis Spiritual Retreat Center in Southern Indiana and reran a 2 hr Score O course from October 6, 2007. I have the map but the results were never published on our website?

Still not up to running yet, but moved at a fast walking pace. I got 23 of the 28 controls. I used a GPS to keep myself accountable.

The map was in surprisingly good shape. It was done by Shawn Smith a former member. The trail network would need to be updated. The map also shows all forest as white. This is mostly true, but I did run into some green sections. But with just a little work, this map could be updated and be useable. We would just need to talk with the Fathers who run the center. I don't think anyone has contacts still with them.

A lot of fun, I had not been here since the Score O so 6.5 years. A wet day but a good day to be outdoors!

Walking 36:30 [1] 2.82 km (12:57 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Broke down and finally bought a bike for the Adventure Race. Now I can register. Realized I only had a month left, so I had to stop screwing around and just buy one. I have no idea if I will like an Adventure Race, but until I try how will I know?

I wonder if I am the first from OLOU to try a Flying Squirrel Adventure Race?

Walking 34:30 [1] 2.82 km (12:14 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Both office chairs fell apart this tax season after about 6 years. Broke down today and bought a new one, the folding chair just was not doing it for me.
