Orienteering race 1:59:45 [4] 8.0 km (14:58 / km)
shoes: Jalas - Spiked

Absolutely hideous performance on 3 to 4. 20 controls and 20% of my time spent on 3 to 4. Got a little lost going from 3 to 4, relocated and thought I had not punched 3. After running around with DA stamped on my forehead for a while finally settled down. I really did not have any problem except 3 to 4. Speed was still good for me. I am starting to have some issues with runners knees. I will have to figure this one out since there are about 40 possible causes of it.

Walking 38:00 [1] 2.82 km (13:29 / km)

A much warmer day today into the 30's but snowy.

I had a productive meeting with 3 of key players in the girl scouts here in KY. They were very supportive and will be running some of their troops through our program at Camp Stem. I also got the green light to map their HQ for a Tuesday night sprint. It backs up to some park land so it will give us another Sprint map.

Looking forward to the Adventure racing clinic this weekend.

Walking 38:11 [1] 2.82 km (13:32 / km)

The drama continues as we are working with the city to try and drop the $400 rental fee to use Iroquois Park.

Its disappointing to me that this is happening to a first time meet director. I can only imagine how discouraging it has to be to him.

Walking 19:00 [1] 1.41 km (13:29 / km)

A little warmer today! Our meet director for 01/18 got back the rental contract from the city of Louisville - they want $400. And the contract is full of little bomb shells like - (1) The event must be free to the public. (2) Walk with Doc will be taking place at the same time as your event. Please ask your participants to cede to the Walk With a Doc participants when on the same course.

I really don't even know what (2) means exactly but it isn't good. Unless this gets changed quickly, the event will have to be moved or cancelled.

Walking 30:00 [1] 1.0 km (30:00 / km)

Tried out some of my cold weather gear. Worked on getting the house doors open and car doors. The flash freeze had everything iced shut.

Went in because I was afraid the dog would freeze to death.
