Orienteering 1:03:52 [4] 5.46 km (11:42 / km)
shoes: Jalas - Spiked

I had a good run on the Green Course at Cherokee Park. I was in tune with and map moving at a good clip until control 10, when I felt my back starting to tighten up. I put the brakes on from 11 to 16. Finished 3 on the Green course out of 25 participants. I was running in 2nd until control 11. We had a total of 89 finger sticks that were downloaded. Some of the kids ran in groups and had one finger stick per group.

Orienteering 25:00 [2] 1.2 km (20:50 / km)
shoes: Jalas - Spiked

Picked up controls after the meet. I left with the download box and am trying out a new software package for me called SI Simple. It created splits and results in HTML file just like our OE. I want to compare it to what Dan gets off the computer before I sell out on it, but it is very promising and takes a lot less time than what I was doing before with the download box. This would make the computer work at our sprints a piece of cake.

Walking 33:00 [1] 2.82 km (11:42 / km)

It was a very icy walk today. Very much looking forward to the meet 10 min from my house tomorrow. Dan always makes the courses interesting and challenging.

Walking 30:00 [1] 2.82 km (10:38 / km)

I was excited to receive the map from 361 Adventures today. I had sent an email and expressed an interest in getting it since I missed the meet. I appreciate their follow through. This will also give me some idea of what they do since they seem to have sent the whole packet.

It looked real interesting. A scale of 1 to 24,000 would have caused me to make some NAV errors I'm sure. It was interesting having the trail map on the back side of the topo map. I was unsure what I would have done with the trail map, other than to note there are a ton of trails out there. I'm sure it would have been different if I had been there.

Very hilly area I'm sure it was beautiful. Oh well, what could have been. At least we have a meet in a couple days.

Hopefully back in the groove now.

Walking 35 [1] 1.41 km (25 / km)

The adjustment from the Chiropractor has mostly freed up the nerve that had been pinched. Got out and walked this evening - I'm about 90% there. I will try and run down the chiropractor one more time this week.

Walking 1 [0]

Was able to track down the Chriopractor that has helped in past years. I tried about 6 before I found one that could really help me. This guy is great but he only works three days a week with limited hours.

I could feel my spine twisted in the lower back. I could not get it to move, but the Chriopractor got a little movement after working it over quite a bit. At any rate, I am walking now like a cave man but at least without a cane.

Hopefully a few more trips back and the icing will free up the spine and I can get on with life.

Walking 1 [0]

Got up today, had to use a cane just to get to the restroom due to intense back pain.

This caused me to miss the Frigid 6 hr today. I had to first deal with the crushing disappoint of missing the O meet. It made me wonder how the many people with disabilities overcome going from an active life to not being able to continue in their chosen sport.

I know I will overcome this back pain, because I have done it nearly a dozen times before. At any rate, I started into a book called Ten Million Steps about a guy who backpacks using trails and road walks from Key West FL all the way into NE Canada.

I will continue to move around through the pain because past experience has taught me not to be to easy on the back.
