Weights 1:28:00 [3] 3.15 km (27:56 / km)
shoes: OROC Spiked

Mental failure on this one. Kept the excitement bridled on 1 + 2, then lost control running aimlessly for 3 which I found since I saw Pat closing in on it. 4 I did not find after making 3 passes. I just skipped 4 & 5, which pulled the plug on the excitement but it allowed me to concentrate and I had no problem with 6 to the end of the course.

It kind of reinforces what I had been seeing, that the mental aspect of Orienteering is my biggest issue right now.

Orienteering race 1:27:19 [4] 3.9 km (22:23 / km)
shoes: OROC Spiked

A race which showed a lack of focus on my part. Ran past the first control because I misread the control description. After punching 3, I thought I had punched 4 and started towards 5 for several minutes before it dawned on me what was going on. Due to my limited concentration I started attacking some of the control points from knolls which looked down at the next control. Worked pretty well, did not need much focus that way. Got burned on 7, looked down saw the pink streamer but it turned out the control was put in the wrong hole. So it took a couple minutes to find it after getting to the streamer. Still pleased I was able to physically thru the race. If only I was there mentally.

Orienteering race 27:21 [4] 1.9 km (14:24 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

I almost did not come to the Pig due to PF. The insert I ordered felt okay walking so I thought I could at least walk thru the courses on Brown. Decided to come since I had only ever made it to one day of the Pig and wanted to see the whole thing.

Sprint started out walking and by the 2nd control I was jogging. Felt pretty good with the Nav part - a couple really tricky controls or legs. I think we stayed out of woods due to the steepness of the hills around the campus. Fun course on a nice campus.

Conducted two sessions of training for Girl Scouts at Camp Stem. A total of 25 scouts. I put out the controls in the AM did the course twice and then picked up the controls. Some girls got it and some did not. But they seemed to have fun. They were rotating thru outdoor activities - Orienteering, high ropes and caving.

Orienteering race 2:29:30 [3] 7.5 km (19:56 / km)
shoes: OROC Spiked

My first meet in a while. PF injury forced me down to a Brown course that I limped thru at a crawl. While PF kept me from running. I was really rusty and had a terrible time with the long leg. Ended up in a pack of 8 who were all looking for the same control. All of them gave up expect for me and one kid. We found it, just terrible navigation on my part. I'm sure I wasted 20 minutes on this. Controls were in the proper spots, I'm just rusty. Some of this may be the tax season effect also. 16 controls and 5KM as the crow flies but I spent way longer wandering.

Went out on the skis at Sunrise. Temp was in upper 20's conditions were good but snow limited after the big melt yesterday. I really enjoyed the gliding and savored every minute as I sensed it will be 9 months till I get on skis again.

Weights (snow) 1:30:00 [3]

Clear the driveway. Our largest snow fall since January 2014 at 11.5"

In Louisville everything should be opened up by tomorrow. However south of here not so fast. Radcliff a city close to Otter Creek reported 25" of snow. The National Guard was activated and is clearing the stranded motorists off the interstates so they can be opened back up.

Some of the weathermen are calling for -2 tonight which would be the lowest in March since they started keeping records in 1813.

X country sking 40:00 [3]

Difficult skiing due to the depth. Spent the whole time getting the trail ready. This looks like a snow that will be melting from both sides, top down and bottom up. I don't have the feeling I will be skiing very long on it.
