Note

Decided to take it easy until the Doc's appointment on Thursday. Not much energy right now!

Walking 25:20 [0] 1.41 km (17:58 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

I'm off the narcotic and down to 1/2 dose of Extra Strength Tylenol, big improvement there. Still bleeding but that's normal until the stent is pulled.

Did the walk but I was struggling toward the end. I have to be careful with how hard I push things with the stent in there.

Note

Surgery was a success! Now I can start healing. The stone had torn up the tube on the way down so it is quite raw. But time will heal that and hopefully I can get off the strong pain medicine

Tuesday Feb 23, 2016 #

Note

Outpatient surgery 4:30 PM tomorrow. Some kind of laser scope is the first try. Since there will be a stent put in, no aggressive physical activity like running for 2 - 3 weeks. At this point, I just want the stone out of me!

Note

Talked to a doctor friend on Sunday at church. Based on that saw my PCP today who ordered a CT scan STAT. Turned out the kidney stone is 9mm so it may be too big to pass. The PCP is trying to get the surgery scheduled unclear when it will be. Hopefully the laser surgery will work.

Walking 17:44 [1] 1.41 km (12:35 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

Still no relief, pain comes and goes. They told me to wait 2 weeks, but I wonder.

Weights (lifting) 5:00 [3]

Walking 17:24 [1] 1.41 km (12:20 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

No success in passing it yet. I decided since I have no control over the timing or the pain episodes to just start with some light exercise that is close to home. Maybe it will even help speed it up.

Walking 16:52 [1] 1.41 km (11:58 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

I passed a stone yesterday felt great this AM. I was out on an audit today and this afternoon it hit again. I was so glad I had pain meds with me. They bought me even time to pack up and get home. So I'm now working on passing stone #2.

Tuesday Feb 16, 2016 #

Note

Been following the doc's treatment plan plus what I learned from my brother who has had about 20 of them. This is my first. I hope to start up slowly tomorrow.

Note
(sick)

Spent the night in severe pain. Went to the doctor today - turns out I am suffering from kidney stones.

Orienteering race 31:04 [4] 2.47 km (12:35 / km)
shoes: OROC Spiked

Had nasty stomach pain last night could not sleep at all due to the pain. Decided to do the sprint in the snow today. Thought maybe the run would help. I had to keep a good pace (for me) since my hands were so cold. Spiked shoes did well in the snow, but the ground was frozen solid making it tough when you got off trail. There was a wet creek crossing available for one of the controls but given my health I bailed and went 25 M out of the way and took an old bridge across. It was worth it!

Orienteering race 21:49 [4] 2.2 km (9:55 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 2015

First sprint I did at Shawnee Park. The short one. Clean run for me. Some minor problems with #2.

Orienteering race 38:22 [4] 3.3 km (11:38 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 2015

Clean run for me. The whole trick on this one was route choice. Shannon caught me at control #9 but did not shake me until #21. She runs at about 10% faster pace than me, but my route choices kept me with her until we got back out in the open ground again. Only had 20 seconds of lost time.

Walking 34:48 [1] 2.82 km (12:20 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI
