Walking (Turf) 3:36:45 [2] 20.0 km (10:50 / km) +184m 10:22 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10

Lovely day, no to climbing, didn't want to waste the day just running, so big walk instead, with Turf obvs. , been meaning to do a long 10+ mile walk for a while. Included a quick trip inside Sainsburys. Couple of rests. Tiring by the end but had to nab the two in the valley at the end! Haha.

Fantastic. https://www.strava.com/activities/4866542327

Note

Not training - a nice sunny wander up the classic VS in Avon Gorge, giants cave buttress. 4c, 4a, 4c; no pushover, as expected. Eighth time I've climbed it.

Dom fell off the first pitch 4 times, and had my belay (that I'd built) failed (i used SIX pieces), I would have definitely died. (that's why i used 6 pieces: none failed).

Took 3 hrs. Steve I & once did this in 49 minutes.....

"COVIDIOTS" (sorry young people) en masse in the sun at the top of the route above the gorge & suspension bridge. Socialising / drinking / smoking. And why not? (rhetorical). Life .... needs to happen.

Running race (Time trial) 31:31 [5] 8.04 km (3:55 / km) +14m 3:53 / km
shoes: adizero adios 4

SRC monthly TT 5 miles. "Not a Weston, Not a Prom" race.

Sunny nice day, mild, slight breeze.

Not on top form; pace immediately felt a little uncomfortable - 4:00. I had the breeze in my face which went some way to explaining; hence kms 3 & 6 were easily the fastest (slight wind behind & great camber!).

A little troubled thru 5km (19:39), put in a fast one then hung on. Every km was sub 4. Keeping my record intact. I did slightly speed up as the 8km progressed. Bit painful.

Unlike December (& october); i woudln't say I'm quite able to break 40mins for 10km right now.

now done 4 of these, 32km, every single km inside 4 mins.

Hope i recover.

Climbing (Trad) 45:00 [2]

Met Ed again, Avon gorge. 3 pitches in glorious sun, me on the ropes, happy to trundle up behind him! Dexter VS 4b, Petros VS 4c, not done the latter since the 1990s, and it's hard!

Dom arrived & took over pairing with Ed, & i sat in the sun & drank tea & ate :-) nb. Ed has run 5km in 19:30-ish - but refused my kind invite to race with me! Pah.

Note

Spent well over an hour on phone to car dealer, garage, and boiler repair people / boiler manufacturer. / warranties etc.

It's a full time job right now just trying to stand still. Cos even when I've sorted all this, i'll be lucky to just be back in the same place i was 3 weeks ago.

2 PM

Climbing (Trad) 1:00:00 [2]

Outdoor climbing! Avon with Dom Goodwin
A VS (5a)! i've never done, so weird, it's right there, great line - never heard of it! Daydream.

V hard start (I was warned), then a hard bit, then a slippery slab to an in situ nut then.... the hard bit. Baptism of fire.

Fab. we warmed down on Sleepwalk, 3 pitch severe 4a, much fun in the sun & warm rock! Spring? - yay.

Then straight to Fishponds Toad patrol which was too cold/dry for much activity, but I did get my first toad of the year.

Note
(rest day)

Completely shattered. Mental burnout.

proposed tenant has been dropped for lying. I was due to lose £400 , which I lose anyway now but at least we dont' have an unsuitable person moving in.

Did a short Turf walk in Clifton, but one zone blocked & by the end, my phone died properly (weird) so only got 3.

Note

I went out to toad patrol for first time this year - dropped headtorch in first 2 mins - no one ever found it. £80 new. https://todbermanor.co.uk/16993/petzl-reactik-220-...

Has anyone got a gun? (lost £400 in rent yesterday, and £450 in car brakes being shit today when took my new car in for minor repair).

"It's OK not to be OK".

I'm *not* OK.
9 AM

Walking (Turf) 45:00 [1]
(sick)

Walk back from garage, via an obvious Turf zone in Fishponds.

Got home & was unfortunately ill. (shits). lie down after. Damn.
3 PM

Running (Turf) 53:00 [3] 10.8 km (4:54 / km) +115m 4:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 11

Turf, from morrisons car park, note also "ran" (shuffled) in coat etc to garage (get car), and didn't start stopwatch until 3rd Turf. No Garmin with me - wasn't really planning on this. (had upset stomach in morning).

On cycle path on way back at end, put in a sustained 4 minute burst, which i measured as 0.95km on Mapometer. not bad in trail trousers! (v slight uphill - mapometer says 14m ascent! not sure about that.....)

Think I've totally lost the plot, myself. Turf addict. Similar to two other addictions I've had. And as compelling.

Cycling (Turf) 45:05 [3] 11.87 km (3:48 / km) +123m 3:37 / km

Sun & mild, hadn't planned to but my hour out was a quick urban cycle turf.

Some pretty awesome urban art found, that I'd not seen before. see pics on straval.

Bristol's a cool city, some of the Montpelier & St Pauls terraces are appealing, build for a different age & adapted by a diverse & evolving population. I probably shall never tread these streets again. I am not of this time anymore, & need to move away, out of cities, to fresh air & views.

Slightly woozy head today - a lot of stress at the moment (house / ME work / tenant issues).
