Climbing 1:00:00 [3]
(injured)

Trad climbing at Goblin Combe, with a new contact, Hamish.

Great day & felt awesome. 3 routes at VS, then I led the E1 5b from 2 weeks ago (this went brilliantly, FWIW). My belay at the top was between two trees, & I sustained a head injury when he fell off, I was catapulted over the cliff edge and hit my head hard on rock .... & had to go to walk in centre later on the advice of 111.

May not now go to Geneva. Mild shock & mild concussion. Both knees bashed , LH one quite badly.

The belay error was my fault and I was the one hurt. So I take full self-responsibilty for this accident.
Had both tree belays failed, we would both be dead. Neither failed.

Pasted from UKC log:
"Felt solid leading this today. Sadly, my belay at the top was "equalised" between trees & when my second broke a hold & fell, I was catapulted off the edge of the cliff, flipped over, & sustained moderate head injuries, requiring a trip to A&E (my second was fine, thankfully.....). I'd taken my helmet off, too. As above me was only sky ..... But the route is a cracker."

Running 40:21 [3] 8.45 km (4:47 / km) +80m 4:34 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10

Steady rather hungover run in "heat" (15 degs cooler than yesterday tho? ), got too hot, so cut run short & slowed down a little, in fact stopped at 40 mins & walked in, as being sensible.

So glad I've got no lodgers now. Rachel was fine, Kim... wasn't. Grime everywhere......

I'd intended to rest again today, but felt like going running, so did. Listen to thy body!

Note
(rest day)

Sinuses improved. Quite worm out.

Hot day; well over 30degs ; move stuff back to Linden house; the end of the 2020 "Covid" era spent living in Southville (4.5 months), with Liz & her two adorable cats.

Mixed feelings. What next?

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Woke with partly blocked sinuses (as Tuesday), but also feeling off colour, thick headed, and not "well". Not feeling like my CFS spells tho (good thing? Bad thing?). (CFS spells pass in days, but a sinus virus can last weeks).

Sheffield trip completely cancelled , & will now rest up until 100% right. I have 5 days. (until Switzerland), but still need to supervise a tenant moving in & a lodger moving out.

Never a dull moment. Perhaps I need to try to have more (dull moments).

Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Trad climbing in Blaise, just under the lovers leap lookout.

4 routes, 2 at HVS, which were good, hard but I was really up for it. Felt solid & fit & strong, esp. fingers.

Dom led a V Diff that no one should ever climb again. Utter shite. The climbing equivalent of dark green!

Event: OO-Cup

Running 43:04 [4] 8.86 km (4:52 / km) +60m 4:42 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10

After a rare & very comfortable night at my Clifton flat, the obligatory joyous run around the Downs. *edit* - actually woke with blocked sinuses, but "shrugged it off" as you would do, right?

Got a bit lost in Goat gully, and the hill back out was a killer, but otherwise much fun.

Recovery is a concern, & I won't run again this week.

Note
(rest day)

Had intended to run around Downs, but tired, & then super busy with flat stuff so never happened. There's always more to do on a tenant change than you expect!
