S&C 10:00 [2]
(injured) (rest day)

Did very little today . Tired. Hamstring a bit too sore - maybe 10 miles on bike was a bit much yesterday.

Some core. Quick walk & on rough ground; my hamstring hurt initially, but later, no pain. Damaged tissue healing, one would hope, ice later & easy foam roller.

Oh - NO BACK PAIN TODAY. I moved at 4am to the sofa , due to the fcukwits upstairs who don't really do "bed" at night. (their kitchen light was still on at 4:30am). But the different angle really seemed to help. Hmmm.

(2019: move house again. Well. I can't do this to myself for another year, can I? Make this place my income, sell my Clifton flat (I'll have owned it for over 25 years.....), and spend a few months carefully selecting a house to grow old in (Hint: the rooms will need to be reasonably big....).

I can still get it right.

(injured)

Set out on mountain bike, expected to be restricted but no pain so just did a quick 10 miler to see how things were .

Probably best to do a few more rides now, seeing as I can't run yet. I can now walk with no pain, but "trotting" across a "road" quickly at supermarket today gave me hamstring pain - no jogging yet. 4 days now. No worries. (Of course, Tim T still expects me to race Blencathra - urm...........). I'll be happy to WALK up Blencathra & take pictures.

This is going to have to be practically daily now.

Exercises for core, and lower back flexibility. Back reverse sit-ups, holding the position.

Lower back still very stiff & painful in the morning, nearly every morning. May try sleeping on the floor semi-permanently now.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Liz examined leg.

Grade 1 tear of lateral RH hamstring.

Can't walk properly.

So that, people, is that.

I suspect the increasing lower back pain I've been experiencing had as much to do with this totally unexpected Christmas Day injury as the 4 pints i had the night before.

Whatever , I'm now broken, and can't even walk (ie. I can't "go for a walk"), so my goal for Blencathra is to be able to walk up the hills. Hmmmm.

Running 49:07 [3] 9.17 km (5:21 / km) +120m 5:02 / km
(injured) shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Hungover . Steady / easy chatting run with Paul from SRC. Frome valley / oldbury court / Frenchay.

All fine until last mile when i put my RH foot down "wrong" on some bumpy grass, & there was a twinge behind knee. This did not resolve and I had to stop 400m from home. Ice & limping for the rest of the day.

Great Xmas present. :-(
