Note
(rest day)

Total refusal last night & this morning for Oldbury court. Slept til 9:30! Woke with sore lower back & sore inner knee.

Cycled over to OC later to see BOK, & all had gone well.

Cycled a bit more on my newly-serviced bike, probably 45 minutes in total. Felt good. Think I should start incorporating a bike ride into my weekly training, like Chas. I'm sure the impact of running (including O events, with steep descents etc) is making my back worse.

But today was not really about me.

Orienteering race 1:01:30 [5] 8.47 km (7:16 / km) +372m 5:57 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

NGOC League Kidnalls, Forest of Dean, Brown 6.5km / 350m (!)

Foul weather but I got to run in a "dry" window, so all ok. Slippery & muddy at start, but improved. Quite a tough course, not long but steep.

Few errors - one due to falling asleep (no 6 45 secs - was on wrong path, idiot)

Good overall, even won a few splits .Pete Ward is not beatable (by me) right now, so am pleased with 3rd here.

Lower back / LH buttock / lh inner knee all niggly, but not serious, but i need to address my back issue.

Indoor roped climbing with a new partner, Katrina, who's recovering from M.E. and finds climbing doesn't make her worse (but walking does).

Felt utterly unbreakable. Solid as. Arms & fingers like steel. Great! Also super light. Hung upside down for ages, no worries. How has this happened?

Masses of routes up to 6a+/one 6b. Fab - must go again soon. Except the w/e promises a slidey NGOC mudbath of an O Brown course. Which do I prefer.....?

Tricky.

(rest day)

12 hours away from home door to door - another day in London, meeting scientists trying to secure £millions for funding.

3hours+ on M4 on coach on way home. Budget extends to train - need to make sure i get train next time :-(

Inner knee sore from yesterday / Saturday - just remembered - it's the injury I got on the Gower , pre-Jukola, pre-Dolomites 5 days. Hmmm.

Orienteering race (Score) 59:49 [5] 10.54 km (5:41 / km) +137m 5:20 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue

BAOC army score odds/evens, Sir John Moore Barracks, Winchester, one hour. 8th - well, first score event this century!
https://race-results.info/2018/20181107mlsa/?page=...

Stiff & sore. Need a break & some rehab.

Great fun, sadly took evens first, as Kev Fielding starting 1 min behind said he'd do odds. Awful start (1st even control horrible - nettles etc ), but then went miles for ONE control and hadn't clocked uncrossable fence - so v long run back to barracks area to get in. NOT WORTH IT.

Fun from there, one 30 second miss, got the evens in 35 mins, and nabbed a bucketload of odds from there on; sadly fell in last 3 minutes near a tricky control, was disorientated & realised I couldn't find it in time so binned it off.

Beaten by Kev F., and Colin Dickson. Someone cleared the lot, but they didn't do odds/evens so properly different ball game! :)

Tamsin inflicted her third defeat on me in 3 races over 5 days. I have no answer! She's better than me!

Arm getting increasingly sore (from my fall) on drive home - clearly bruised it.

Warm down & find the control I hadn't found a few minutes earlier. Nasty control! A few people said they'd struggled to find it. (197)

BOK Tuesday nigh-O training, Blaise.

Glasses on in the misty rain - what a twit! Steamed up & couldn't see. Fun tho. Ran mainly with Scott, who did a few extra controls :) Found it very tricky, in the dark. think I'll skip the southern nights......

Fun evening, tho , and collected 3 controls in afterwards - found that really hard!!!!

Thanks to Ifor & Tommi as always. Another top evening!

Finally home, via the Mary Rose exhibition in Portsmouth, & dropping sister at Heathrow.

Legs tired. Lower back sore........

Incredible story of a sunken ship's salvage - but this is not another SS Great Britain! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Rose
