Orienteering race 59:18 [4] 7.66 km (7:44 / km) +253m 6:39 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue

NGOC Painswick, Blue as not fit yet. 6.1km, 59:18

Scrappy run & error on final control when i'd simply had enough - 2mins easily (Garmin says I missed it by a couple of metres..... no idea why). No 5 made no sense at all - a large knoll / hill, west side? Very strange control. 1 min. no 9 - confused by unmarked elec fence, on wrong knoll, looked down on the wrong earthbank - but 2 others here had no issues at all, so I was at fault. 1 min.

control 12 (code 52) I felt i navigated to perfectly, rising up to see the flattening platform, then the red control tape ... but no control. Tape said 52. End of. I left immediately, & they voided the leg - despite others finding a control nearby. On "all" time, I was first, but frankly it's meaningless. 3rd place.

Tommi going well through terrain when i caught him at no 13. we then won no 14 (!) . I felt awkward in terrain - work to do, tho legs & lungs seemed fine. Inner knee less painful than yesterday - promising,

Note

Note: after ParkRun, Sian took her daughters to Cotswold water park, where she went over on her ankle, there was a loud pop, and ......

She's broken it.

Shit.

9 AM

Running race 22:29 [4] 5.0 km (4:30 / km) +63m 4:14 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Eastvile park run 62nd 22:28

ran 1st 3 km with Sian at conversation pace. (for me)

Then ran up long hill away from her, to pass the buggies / double buggies that were annoying me .

Felt crap really, and inner left knee more than niggly. Dating from Gower early-mid June. I think a strategic trip to physio might be in order. If it's ligament damage, I may need longer to rehab it. But seems odd that after so much action (& no pain when not running) in the Alps , I should be already beset with a "niggle" / borderline injury.

Ice when I got home. Great.

Note

Sport climbing at Ban y Gor, wye valley, with Clio.

6 routes from 5 to 6a. Good day out & not too strenuous.

Note

Indoor bouldering at Bloc, 1st time in months.

went ok really, despite lack of actual "fitness" - mainly due to being light (lost a lot in Alps - was 66.9kg 4 weeks ago). (that's absurdly light - all ribs showing).

However, after 90 mins, I was buggered, & had totally had enough. arms, fingers, core, you name it. I'm 54 now. Hmmm.

Good start. DOMS in (mainly ) thighs from last night. One step at a time. Slowly.

Inner knee still niggly. Will ice / ibuprofen gel it later.

Running 52:05 [3] 8.95 km (5:49 / km) +181m 5:17 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

BOk Tuesday run (for a change) - good choice. Until we crossed road into Tyntesfield, these were roads, tracks & fields i never knew existed, let alone had run on. Nice little group & the opportunity to loop round for slower runners; sociable too. Getting worryingly dark by the end. Head torch next time?

Inner knee a bit iffy, will ice it & see how it goes. Scar tissue?

Running 16:30 [2] 2.25 km (7:20 / km) +30m 6:52 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Easy jog. Thighs felt bomber. (how many metres did i ascend/descend in the Alps?..... 10,000's.)
not sure about inner L knee (from Gower- yep, stll that!)
Good to try out a jog; take it one run at a time & see what happens.
Settling back into my flat, but missing the house i rented before that, more.

Hmmm. Ice on inner knee in evening.
