Orienteering race (Urban) 53:17 [3] 8.7 km (6:07 / km) +296m 5:14 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

NGOC Urban, Chalford, Blue, 6.2km, 235m (!) 53:17 4th/47

Blue , very very hilly, was running very defensively (calf), enjoyed most of it, messed up long leg (but so did Jackie I think!), felt unfit but happy to get round with no calf pain. Several little errors - so many little "roads" - and need to concentrate a lot. Definitely out of practice on O. Clive 7 minutes ahead, Andy Monro 3 mins up.

Entered BOK Trot Short brown now. Hoping that will be the next step.

Note
(injured)

Liz dug into my sore SI joint & massaged my glutes properly (Mainly LHS). am hoping it will improve with core exercises. I'll do the urban NGOC O tomorrow then take a break, I think, for a few days & see if things settle down.

Super unfit for BOK Trot, but who cares! Ifor - come & get me!!!! :)
9 AM

Running (ParkRun) 26:17 [3] 5.03 km (5:14 / km) +62m 4:55 / km
(injured) shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Eastville Parkrun officially 164th/385! Officially, 26:35!!!

Ticking injury box again now - LH SI / hip/ buttock is just 24/7 pain, & I need to address this & I feel my osteopath is out of credit on this one now. Chiropractor? (Tim tett recommends a Sheffield one but....)

1st km with Ange & dog. Lost the dog (her son took him away) and we chatted the whole way round. No calf pain. She has calf issues. Si/hip bad - no flexibility - but hamstring, achilles & calf not affected at this pace.

Found it tough by the end, sub 5 min/kms on an up hill is not that easy when you're this useless! personal worst, but was more about the social. I had this issue last spring too. Hmmmm. Can't just "run it off".

Note

Indoor climbing at UCR with Tim Tett.

Fun. flashed two 6b+ (one onsight),, leading; but got shut down by a super steep 6b+ - clearly not as "fit" as I thought!!!! Technically solid. Great.

LH SI / lower back still painful :-(

Tim was left dangling on the rope a few times, and also cheated by using banned holds - he needs to CLIMB IN SHEFFIELD AS WELL AS BRISTOL. - seriously! Get out there!!!!!

Calf had a tiny bit of "stiffness" in it. I need to MTFU about this now.

Running 20:30 [2] 3.5 km (5:51 / km) +34m 5:35 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Easy run with Tim Tett to Stoke Park - both plodding along gingerly - what a pair of SAD HAS-BEENS. In 1984, in Walkley, we ruled the roost!

not sure about how far, no garmin, whatever. No calf pain. Hip/SI annoying but bearable. Just.

Climbing (Bouldering) 1:00:00 [4]

Bloc bouldering - very full on and was good, as now fit . Several reds, many circuits, and a lot of mileage. fingers trashed by the end. LH SI/hip painful today, is this just my life now? Seems it. Hope it doesn't stop me climbing & running (much)

Off to 1st Urban BOK midweek - yours truly is the coordinator - what can POSSIBLy go wrong? LOL
6 PM

Orienteering 26:18 [2] 3.71 km (7:05 / km) +78m 6:25 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

As co-ordinator of the BOK summer urban series, I will be at most events. Tonight was the first by UBOC, at Troopers hill, and seemed to go OK. What happened to Ben on the run in! http://www.bristolorienteering.org.uk/sites/defaul...

I "tested" out my calf by jogging around the orange controls etc & there was no pain. It's better, then, is it? Should i really start running again? Sadly my back/LH SI was sore post-climbing earlier. Not sure if this could still lead to calf / achilles / hamstring issues......

Swimming 25:00 [3]

Swim in Kingswood pool . a bit farcical, as it was over-60s hour, (they never told me) and so i was not really supposed to be there. got one chap who wasn't happy. Plonker.

Mostly crawl, some backstroke, very little breast stroke. Boring, but hope to help core & back. Back / LH Si/hip not great today (again). Found a piece of scrap wood from IKEA dump section to put under my bed.....

Calf (the pulled one) a little sore today after the "run" yesterday. Hope it's just the muscle getting used to being used again.
