Cycling 1:01:43 [4] 20.32 km (3:02 / km) +138m 2:56 / km
(injured)

First proper ride in a while. trying to keep 5km "laps" to about 15 mins, or decent Kenyan running pace.

Calf hurt more doing this bike ride than on any jogs / light green course yesterday. Whatever.

Orienteering race 35:29 [2] 3.4 km (10:26 / km) +80m 9:20 / km
(injured) shoes: Mud Claw 333

BOK East Harptree Saturday series, Light green, cagoule & woolly hat on, trundle / jog /walk to defensively protect calf "injury". (Calf now giving electric-like sensations when prodded - eh?).

Calf fine, tho the worry of it all was the worst part; lower back / LH SI joint not fine today :-( OUCH.

Started 2 mins after & 2 mins before Ruby & Guy Owen respectively. Ruby W14A winner at the JK. Caught her at no 4 when she came in from a crazy angle. Noticed how hesitant she was, and somehow, despite only hobbling, I got ahead of her and stayed there. Guy (age 12) took an absurd route to no 8, but was catching us up all the way at the end. Luckily for this old codger, not quickly enough! Guy won the last 5 splits:

Nice to get out; & be back talking to clubmates again after a 5 week grim hiatus. This does NOT mean I'm "back". By any means. Clive beaten by Michael - ha ha! Clive wasn't too happy about that.....

Note
(injured)

Outdoor sport climbing in Wye valley with John Alcock. 6 or 7 routes from 5+ to 6b/+ (dogged on second)

Shoulder very painful, also lower back & general inflexibilty and being out of practice (I last climbed "real" rock in early July last year, just before being admitted to hospital & cut open), really meant I struggled. Good to get a difficult day out of the way now tho. Fingers sore!

Also, calf survived, i sat on the rope a few times rather than risk it re-tearing.

Nice sunny day.

Note
(injured)

Note: rubbing "injured" calf / soleus gives electric like sensations. the other calf doesn't.

This worries me immensely. I could be flying close to the wind here & maybe I should "ease off".

Running (jogging) 13:19 [1] 2.25 km (5:55 / km) +38m 5:27 / km
(injured)

Back(lower) sore again today. Miserable.
Another very slow stressful shuffle. this is for rehab.

Am finding this very stressful, as if the calf pulls again, my climbing holiday is ruined. But surely... it won't. And by jogging, surely I'm helping it heal correctly. Right?

Would like to jog / walk Green at BOK East Harptree, as I've never been there before. Will require massive self discipline though.

(injured)

UCR indoor climbing, with Clio, went fine, nothing harder than 6a+. Felt good on a rope. Preferable to bouldering.

Not a peep of pain from the calf, tho back was a bit grumbly.

Clio & I went on to save 5 newts & over 20 toads at the Fishponds Toad Patrol. https://www.facebook.com/groups/FishpondsToads/

Note
(injured) (sick)

A horrible, horrible night. A relapse of one of my illnesses/infestations from last autumn.

Went to the chemist & bought some hard core drugs that KILL THE FUCKERS.

Still, very disappointed. Jesus. When will my luck change?

Liz particularly pissed off with me now.

(slept til 10:00 - WHAT THE....!) - 10 hours sleep? Groggy

no idea what's going on but vastly less pain in hip/buttock.
4 PM

Running (jogging) 9:23 [1] 1.44 km (6:31 / km) +14m 6:13 / km
(injured) shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Very slow jog - been waiting a while to do this - but buttock / SI joint LH pain & accompanying (appalling) stiffness / inflexibility has prevented it. & would have been suicide. On the plus side, this meant my calf's damaged fibres have had a proper chance to mend. Not a peep out of the calf, and my lower back / hip (more importantly), felt acceptable if not perfect.

Climb tomorrow, another easy shuffle wednesday, is the plan. Won't be ready for Chiltern challenge, and that's fine.
