Pain in hip less this morning, proving what a lottery it is. Hamstring pain minimal, which is a big plus. But still - hip pain.
Helping at BOK event (Dolebury Warren Saturday Series), so thought i'd jog the Green. V early start (2nd out on course). lovely day, sun, frost, -1.5 degrees
Missed no 1 by 2 mins (lazy & not used to 1:7500 scale), and Paul started 2 mins behind. This was 100% not what I'd wanted. Couldn't he have waited another few minutes before starting?
Took myself out of the equation (or thought I had) at no 8 by going to no 19 nearby - the "1" of the "19" almost overlaying the North grid line. Paul helpfully didn't bother telling me, and I lost 2 mins here, finding no 19 with Tommi who had come from no 18 not no 8.
Drifted along , aware of mild hip pain . Inevitably re-caught Paul and overtook with a good contour in to no 20; but sadly the "wall" near no 21 wasn't clear & I ended up on the wrong crag, 100% thought it was right; ready to shout "this leg will be voided!!". Again, Paul helpfully didn't tell me he'd found the control (note: team player award 2017 won't be going to him!)
Pleased with no pain, but with 5-6mins+ lost, I'm about as far away from my best as possible! Had i started late (as planned) & not missed no 1, I could have done 36 mins with ease. Felt lots fitter than Leigh woods, which was horrible / felt like death.
But it was only supposed to be an easy jog from a runner on the ropes.
Recovered very quickly indeed.

http://www.bristolorienteering.org.uk/sites/defaul...splits are mildly entertaining. just goes to show how fast you can go when some1 is in your line of sight. (post no 21). Tho i was leading Paul to no's 4 & 5..... My no 9 was a debacle as was my no 1.
