Note
(injured)

Pain in pelvis & hamstring as bad as usual. pretty down about it, but..... up at 7am.

Big winter hill walk in Brecon beacons, snow & wind & white-out clag. From north, ascended Pen y Fan 886m, many who started that way dropped out, somehow kept going (didn't quite need ice axe or crampons, tho saw others who did); topped out to less wind & more people; carried on over Corn Du, 873m, using compass; finding others on the top lost through the mist & snow (white everywhere).

Snowy descent pleasant to north of Corn Du and so down to the valleys. 7miles + and a great day out. With Liz. Pictures on facebook for anyone interested! if you think *I'm* bad, there was a solo guy up there with a GoPro sticking up on his head, AND a selfie stick. Liz shouted "you need to get out more!" to which I replied, how much more "out" does he need to be than on top of the highest hill in south wales in a white out in January?

Running 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km) +25m 6:24 / km
(injured) shoes: Brooks Ravenna 5

Note: Climbed at TCA in morning, was crap after bad night's "sleep"; LH hip & buttock / hamstring felt awful. Properly affecting my climbing now. Very depressing. Did a lot of stretching afterwards, which seem to "help", but, increasingly: I can't go on like this.

Easy jog (as planned) - hamstring pain pretty OK at first, and hips not too bad, but after 15 mins I had had enough. Walking by 20 mins.

Ready to can the 2017 spring O season now. I'm at wit's end.

What's the point of f***ing retiring from work if I can't do the things I love - and all because of a tiny back misalignment?

Negligible improvement today.

Running (jog) 15:00 [0] 1.33 mi (11:17 / mi) +15m 10:54 / mi
(injured) shoes: Brooks Ravenna 5

Woke in pain but less so than yesterday. Still no hamstring pain.

Tentative jog, slightly against osteo advice, round the block, almost at walking pace. Pretty good, did a few strides & there was no hamstring pain.

So a good start; no hamstring pain. Proving (as if it were needed) that there has never been any tissue damage to my hamstring (I knew this) and the pain was nerve / referred pain from a misaligned lower back.

Now to rehab - slowly. Too much too soon, and I could blow it, says Lisa.

Also cycled 25 mins in two stages today - was OK.

Very unfit, with a fat gut.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Woke feeling like someone had hit my LH hip with an iron bar, but no hamstring pain.

Walked twice, 1 hour in the afternoon, trying to keep things "moving" on osteo's advice.

Found myself in bed again late afternoon - wiped out. oh dear.

Ho hum, oh to be young & worry-free! This is middle age. Late middle age?

So finally, and at least 4 weeks late, the big day arrives and I see Lisa Kennard - "She Is The Messiah" - the elusive osteopath who I couldn't see last month due to my, urm, holiday schedule & her absences over "Xmas".

http://www.southbristolosteopaths.co.uk/osteopathy...

Now we're in the hands of an expert, here we go. She immediately sees my tilted pelvis (as diagnosed by Liz ages ago, and Tim Tett last night), jumps on me twice from each side, my lower spine crunches, and I'm gasping like I've been hit by a car.

Had to go to bed later (this is no surprise), but luckily there's iplayer & stuff to entertain me.

How does it feel? It feels more normal already, but we'll see how things pan out. Two days' total rest for a start (on her orders). That's A-OK with me.
