Bracing walk up Beacon Batch (Mendips) with Lynne - 2.5 hours. Nice.

then off to Reading for a night away, a gig (watching), 5 pints & a curry. had to go home at 12:30am as the others are hardcore & went on to an after hours drinking den.

woken by them about 3am as they crashed back into the house. typical.

Indoor climbing at TCA with Liz, Nellie, Lynne, & Jenny.

Properly bang on it today, was on cracking form. that's what 2 days off results in? One move I did today was definitely UK 6a - just latched it, no way is that 5c. This means that technically I am as good as ever (2012). But can I turn it into route climbing?

How good's that? This good (March 2012). https://youtu.be/h_hJKcXqmfE (nb. Adam Ondra does 9a on Yosemite twice in one day; this is only 7a) - the UK 6a crux move is at 1:35 - 1:50. Took me 3 visits & about 8 goes to nail it. . . . . this route remains my only 7a (E4 6a in English money) & probably my only 6a move mid route. (think it looks easy? it's overhanging the whole way - not vertical.....)

the past 3-5 weeks of regular bouldering is paying off. Now burning the ladies off. Normally, I'm the crappest. But I weigh seemingly nothing, and my fingers are now strong. and I'm cutting loose and core strength is being used & improving. Yay.

Very cold clear morning - brisk walk from home to Maes Knoll, up & over, and back over again as dropped my hat on summit, amazing views, pics on FB soon.

Sadly , possibly cos of 20 miles bike ride yesterday, my injury hurt / was uncomfortable for a lot of this walk, esp on gradual downhills..... caved in & booked Osteo for next week - and GP also, as this is getting ridiculous.

But - lovely to be out on such a stunning winter morning - sub zero temps.

Cycled (lovely day - very cold - Lowe Alpine furry gloves useless) to Horfield common (meet people there in pub) (Meat people?)

A bit epic getting there - thought it would take 40 mins so instead of being 10 minutes late (standard Phil practice), I was 20 mins late. Oops.

10 miles tho! Blimey. Tired. Had sugar in my coffee there ..... absolutely had to!

Cycled over Clifton Suspension Bridge twice today- amazing view & sunny winter day. Stunning.

Cycle back from Horfield. Felt a lot easier. Went via Ashton court - wonderful sunny crisp day; deer park all out (or should that be "Dear" park? ;)

Put in a pretty hard effort up Hartcliffe way near the end, grim. I'm no cyclist, but 20 miles and 340m climb today is no picnic, so I consider I've "trained" today, people.

Note: just googled the Skirrid fell race - insane! in snow you'd need an ice axe for the last descent?

But I also note: "Free bear and chips for all competitors" - So if they get 100 runners, how will they manage for 100 bears to get to the pub? And what sort of bears? Hopefully not polar or grizzlies.

OK OK. Sorry.

good training sesh, nailed an orange that 4 or 5 weeks ago I reckoned "impossible".

I'm definitely getting stronger. Looking good!

sunny day , could have climbed outdoors, but maybe another time.
