Good morning run, last of the year, up & over most hills, some efforts on hills, flat road (some spring there; not enough) & a 100m segment in 20 seconds. Had to force myself to ease off in last km, due to big gig tonight & murderous fell race in Malham in less than 2 days - HELP.
http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_4216688.htm... So ends 2015. A mixed year for me.
To sum up:
I DIDN'T GO TO WORK - AT ALL.
January: coughed for 5 weeks, antibiotics didn't quite clear it. No sport at all.
Feb: how I got 3rd (behind Clive & Charlie) in Midland champs off that, no idea - but I did - close behind 2nd place for equal best run of year. Wow!
Early March: tore hamstring tripping over a root, at pointless BOK Saturday series event. Injury miles worse than expected. Missed JK in Lakes as a result.
April: failed to be remotely recovered for BOC in FoD - gutted utterly; could have salvaged a silver in relay - ran in pain - but Mark S mispunched :'-((( NOT MY YEAR????
May - July - failed to regain fitness/lose weight: really struggling for any form, a mediocre 40:32 10km in July was the "best" effort, & hurt (3 mins slower than last year). Finally got a decent Urban in in BOK Pomphrey - 36 mins for 6.5km? - mid July; beaten by Cecilie tho!
Mid July - early Sept - 6 weeks mountaineering in Alps: climbed 4 x 4000m peaks; lost 4-6 kg; legs & heart & lungs became very, very fit.
Sept- 18:52 parkrun straight off (Pomphrey). Won Off road 10km at Warmley by 3minutes in 40:18.
Oct - CSC final, tore round Helsington Barrows, no messing, for equal best result of the year: 2nd to Clive, and faster mins/km (just! barely!) than Quentin on Blue Trophy. Clive can remain invincible: fine by me.
Mid Oct- Won D Class at OMM with Mark Burley - first MM since 1981; injured knee but it healed in 4 weeks. Astonishingly hard, and satisfying, but very tough, life experience. FOUND OUT HOW DEEP I COULD DIG when the chips were proper down.
Nov: Won the Army forces women's champs in FoD in decent mins / km, happy with that.
Dec: ill, then climbing trip so lost 2 whole weeks running, but feeling fit & light at Xmas, so all's good. Note: on day 4, I led a 35m 6a+, 150m above the ground, in one go, no falls, or rests, or aid, in the dusk, and, like the OMM, I found out how resilient I can be - I really dug deep and hung in there, on tiny holds, UK 5b/c moves coming at me over and over; my second, Steve, who's stronger than me, was very impressed - and said so immediately.
I was "SHUOC wimp" 3 years in a row. 1983-85
I can say that, in 2015, I know for sure, that I am no "wimp" in life.
