Note
(injured) (sick) (rest day)

"Incipient" cough worsened during night, & today a complete write off ill.

Very unhappy as tomorrow is supposed to be one of the biggest gigs (and best-paid) of my musical career to date.

Horrible, and worrying, as I may *have* to play it - cancelling is NOT an option.

BASTARD. (ill health). Remind me not to waste any of my remaining life/health in any sort of "office" environment. Life's too short/ YOLO.

Slept part of afternoon - out like a light. Lemsips.

PS. just to complete my day, I see my BOF ranking has dropped to 1552nd, I'm now ranked 57th in BOK. NIce. BOK SELECTORS TAKE NOTE. I was 3rd in the Midland champs & 3rd M50 in the Chiltern challenge this year, so what's that about?

Running race (ParkRun) 22:03 [4] 5.08 km (4:20 / km) +122m 3:53 / km
(injured) (sick) shoes: Saucony Guide 7

Really bad nite - woke every hour, throat / chest sore / painful :( - ill?

Ashton Court parkrun. 1st parkrun in nearly a year.

Course changed to "B route" - twice up major hill! - due to some MBK event on the top of the course. Grim.

Intention to pace Helen to about 24 mins, uphill start tho she was very slow indeed, so slow that I physically couldnt' run any slower and she was also going backwards, so I just ran steadily up the hill, then at the turn, started passing people, which continued.

2nd time up hill I was not happy, breathing bad, legs crap, felt v unfit & quite ill. Still managed - just - to catch the 2nd pack of leading women and eventually drop them all - last km much too fast, but I have a tiny amount of pride in my pace. Essentially, I let no one pass me after the first 1km, and I ensured it stayed that way.

Both upper hamstrings sore after, plus L Achilles (last year's injury). Perhaps Chas was right - dont' risk it - but it was a good experience & start to the w/e.

Helen did indeed have a shit run & did about 25:30.

Garmin says 5.08km so I was, apparently, averaging under 7 mins per mile. Blimey. Fastest I've run in quite some time.

kms: 5:00 (start/up), 4:03 (down), 4:07 (mixture including flattish), 5:04 (up), 3:32 (down==> flat fast finish). 17 seconds for final 80m.

Course long, also more climb than last year / normal course? - YES - 104m climb according to Mapometer last year, 122m climb today. 18m difference - not much....? https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/8023397...

28th. Never saw Paul Jefferson & Peter Mountain!!! http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ashton-court/results/lat...

(injured)

TCA - bouldering - 75 mins, completely knackering!

Not sleeping well - throat / chest symptoms - harbouring a lurg, or maybe, reaction to the new anti Diabetes drugs I'm now on? Need to investigate.

Note: gig (Leftfield) at O2 academy frogmore st. Very loud! 3 pints - and deafened. Excellent nite :) http://www.leftfieldmusic.com/

Orienteering race 30:21 [4] 3.52 mi (8:37 / mi) +50m 8:15 / mi
(injured) shoes: Karrimor D30 Trail

BOK Urban Park , frenchay, Middle course again, getting a bit silly doing these Middle courses, but 30 mins is about right for me right now. Hmmmm.

Pretty perfect run. Surprised I didn't win every leg & was not even in the lead until no 4. I also have local knowledge-this area is no mystery to me.

Hamstring is clearly not going to "ping" 3 months after I did it, so maybe I just endure the pain and get on with it? Man up?
Pain easing. Fitness rubbish.

Warmed down with sore calf & hamstring, to get vandalised control dibbing unit. (Long course). Which I found.

Nice evening for it.

Running 36:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:00 / mi) +80m 7:35 / mi
(injured) shoes: Saucony Guide 7

Steady Victoria park run, sunny. Easy pace.

Leg not nearly as hurty as usual, so did 2 laps not one, 1st time in over 3 months I've been able to do that.

Both Achilles were wooden & sore / solid at first - I think I'm allergic to summer, my heels get sore , hard ground? Whatever.

Glad to have "nearly" enjoyed a run!!!
