Cycling 1:30:00 [3] 23.0 km (3:55 / km) +369m 3:37 / km

Cycled to, watched & photo'd the Bristol Half marathon, then cycled up bridge valley road (tough!), a circuit of Ashton Court Nova Blue - never done this, wont' again - too jarring, on my crap bike - 6.66km, and took me nearly 30 mins! Sat down to recover.then cycled home via supermarket & storage area (prepping for house move). 23km!

- must be some cardio benefit there.

Climbing - Goblin Combe - did some bouldering then led "Treebeard" VS 4c a nice steady route with Steve & Lynne, really enjoyed it, finger fine, great to enjoy the countryside today, Indian summer.

Climbing was far nicer than O yesterday, but no one enjoyed O yesterday so not really relevent. Warm sun drenched limestone - yum.

Achilles felt OK but I think I'll have a break.

I fancy Jenny Jagger.

Orienteering race 50:35 [4] 4.7 km (10:46 / km) +190m 8:57 / km
shoes: Mud Claw 333

BOK Saturday winter series, Greyfield Woods.
Green. 4.7 km in 50:35. Masses of "incidents" after no 11.

Difficult to know what to say about this. Just looking at results, I would suggest no 18 is voided - Jackie never found it. Many retired. Winning time over 10 min kms.

Fine to no 11, by which time achilles a little sore.

I never saw no 12 so headed off to 13 but there was a path on the map that wasn't on the ground - in its place was thick vile vegetation. In fact we all got stuck in brambles & nettles (legs tingling madly as i type). (Caroline Potter was later forced to retire having been out for ages). I retraced, hacked through to "green " forest and suddenly saw 12 on my map - i was only 30m away from it, so got away with it. Just!

13 i was the wrong side of the fight, but I sorted out my trouble & again got lucky.

Repulsive forest (bramble "ride" ) to 15 then I nailed 16 - we're on! No we're not. The "runnable" woodland south of 16 was actually impenetrable. see RCRO's log. No 17 was just .... horrible. The "white" was actually - dive in & hope. Please can this end? but then no 18 I could not find - no plan B. UP the hill, see the niche, see the flattening platform - no control. Now what? No plan B. This can't be wrong. so up i went, around, down, a squiggle. Pointless, as I was clueless what to do. Retire -it's been stolen? As i retraced my steps, Alison Simmons ws coming up - i said, no 132? Yep she said. Ah, I replied, as i saw it sitting in a load of brambles in the niche. Led her straight to it. Wrong place, surely? the platform above was on the map, and that was the control site, or it was an unmarked platform - which I doubt.

Achilles too sore at the end - not enjoying running, but finished it off. I'd been leading at 17.

Nnot sure if I should bag off running completely for a few weeks?

I see "Rebecca Lemen-Hogarth, M21, BOK" probably didn't enjoy his/her run much. 11 DNFs, 21 finishers. That's poor. Even poorer was running out of Light Green maps at 13:45 when the first start time was 13:15. Come on BOK! Is it a competition to put on as disastrous an event as Penpole? This one wasn't that bad, but it was still one of the worst O events I've ever been to.

I forgot my Garmin, but no worries - hopefully soon we will all have forgotten this event. I came 2nd.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Diabetes awareness course, Bedminster.
9:30am - 4pm. Yawn.

I'm now aware of Diabetes.

three obese people, several "LIttle britain" types, and some massively challenged South Bristicles made this somewhat entertainning - one even had a mini-fit after inroducing himself & was carted off ill to see a doctor. (luckily we were above the surgery) Oh dear.

I see the future - it's grim.

Running 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +65m 7:37 / mi
(injured) shoes: Brooks Ravenna 5

Steady run round the park & up to new totterdown place where I'll soon live.

Rubbish - achilles a bit iffy after 10-12 mins, stretched it out, it was OK, then again at about 28 mins.

Felt ghastly - unfit, slow, uncomfortable. Achilles and left hip niggling enough to restrict me.

Hmm. Not enjoying my sport.....
House move imminent.
Work ramping right up.
Back to both band practices now my finger's muchly on the mend (HURRAH).

Head's not there for sport. It'll come back.

Note
(injured)

slightly niggly walkiing around

Indoor climbing at redpoint. Finger was fine. Very boring tho, top roping and then leading easy jugfests. I'm bored by my sports. Hmmm.

Decided to leave off the booze for a bit. Actuary has shamed me into it.
