Orienteering race 42:41 [5] 7.6 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Yellow Mud Claw

BOK ASO Blue course burn up at Silkwood (westonbirt arboretum). Good run, Achilles sore at start so took first few controls at a steady pace, ramped it up in woods, caught both Leathwoods almost simultaneously, dropped them both quickly, and they immediately re-overtook me as I made a howling route choice mistake at no 16 costing 45 secs?. Then caught Matt again and put in two massive efforts to drop him. These worked. Flew home flat out and lucky not to miss controls at that state of tiredness. 5.5 min kms and 2 mins behind Clive, so pleased. Ben Maliphant again sub 5 min /kms, a diferent class. Mark pipped me! Well he would!

Note
(rest day)

Nice day pottering. sorting house. Plus sealing the deal on the new car (Focus). Out to pub - 2.5 pints, glucose has been nice & low for a few days (sub 10). to my horror, at 11:15pm and feeling quite tipsy, my readings shot up to the highest I've had - 17, 21 (no WAYYYY!!!), and 16.6. I felt really off colour and the nigh was misery - peeing a lot, nightmares, not happy. So could beer be a problem for me?
nb. normal range is 4-6 mmol. I've only once been in that range since diabetes started 6 weeks ago and that was after a hard session and almost wobbling after with the "hypos". Hmmm.

Gym 1:00:00 [3]

Gym at lunchtime plus cycle there & back. 20 mins on cross trainer, just over one circuit of weights, then 10 mins on gruelling ascendeur which was knackering. Near hypo at 2pm back at desk - blood level down to sub-6 - had to buy a (gasp!) choco flapjack & drink tea. Still, got to find out what's going on here! Beers at home later - wiped out after first 5 day week since July.

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Harrier 3

First run in Mizuno trail shoes - wave harrier 3. Used headtorch in the park. Was grim - felt crap, shoes fine, I wasn't - sugar craving bad today, and feeling quite wobbly. Knackered later and ended up with bottle of beer and savoury crisps slumped in front of TV. What a past-it middle aged diabetic! Good shoes, tho.... £60 in pete bland sports sale in Kendal.
