shoes: Mizuno Ovation

One hours workout on weights in the gym. Good - 1st time for 3 weeks - felt OK.

Running 44:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Ovation

Lunchtime run + Lawrence, who'd not run for 3 weeks and had been ill & hurt his hip in a snow boarding fall. Very cold so he set off fast - my left achilles immediately hurt, and my right, but mostly the left. We did the km on roadPortway quickly, me 3:53 (felt easy), he 4:04 ( he was dying by now). Apart from my achilles, I felt very fit, but sadly, the pain never ceased & although Lawrence let me run away from him in the last mile or so, it was a worrying run for me (but worse for him). Hmmm. emergency rest needed. Lawrence needs to get over this for his marathon!!!!!! in 3.5 weeks time!!!! Poor guy - feel guillty.
I'll not tick the "injured" box just yet ...

Climbing (Bouldering) 1:45:00 [4]

TCA with Sam, bouldering, felt OK, no pain in forearm, really going for it on greens & yellows. Keith Agmen & James Hargreaves there -weird to see orienteers at a climbing wall!!! - also Phil Williams & his daugter, Freya, who burned me off. As did Phil. I'm weak, and inflexible.
Very knackered towards end, but good sesh. Pub after (Viccy Park). Oh yes! climb, beer (x2), crisps. what more is there to life?

Orienteering race 37:59 [5] 6.5 km (5:51 / km) +250m 4:54 / km
shoes: Yellow Mud Claw

JK relay Hambleden, v early start met Paul at M4 at 7:45 am which felt like 6:45!
Last leg on our "sort of" "B" team for oldies. Paul & Ifor had good enough, if not spectacular, runs so wasn't too far down, but still, decided to totally go for it - Clive said he'd had to walk up all the hills so I decided to run up then all. Ran all the way to no 1 on the line, which seemed effective. Caught SYO (colin smith, who'd beaten me on saturday) and went straight past- no messing. A younger laddie overtook me, couldnt' stay with him, but he was a useful marker til the spectator control, which i got to in about 19 mins.

second half - made a 30sec error at the faraway control, getting dangerously close to losing it as was running so hard I was losing concentration. Ran up the final hills, despite the agony, and tried as hard as i could to close on Rob Lee of Interlopers - wasn't going to make it, & I knew it. V slight pause at penultimate control, then teetered down hill to the ghastly run in, and a french guy caught me and outkicked me on the run in - how embarrassing, having done all the work in the forest my humiliation was exhibited on the run in! But I was delighted with my time - fastest mins/km this century, 3rd fastest on my leg, and less than a minute slower than Tim Tett (1st M50 individual) and Jan Olm(2nd M45) - fair enough!!!!

Noticed achilles were sore on warm down (in new shoes, without my heel raise & insoles.... on hard dry stony ground.....) - thought nothing of it.
