Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Cycled - Clifton downs, around downs, to Richard's house, drop off files, then over Susp. bridge to Ashton court, grim descent on bumpy rocky muddy tracks to Balloon fiesta area, getting really tired by now, then back thru Southville. About an hour. Muggy & sweaty. Legs buckling at end. Got off & walked up hill - urm, how do the Brownlees get off and run (not walk) 10km in under 30 mins after a proper bike race? Superhuman. We are not worthy.
Noticed that cycling on the flat isn't much cop - breathing not tested, and it's getting out of breath that I need to reduce. However, going UP HILL is a different story!!!
Good session for fitness, tho. Maybe I'll join the legions of old crocks (Chas, Clive etc) who have to cycle lots to stay fit, as running that much just leads to knackered lower legs? Dear me. NEW LEGS PEASE (or at least those I had in 1991 back, that'd do)

Note
(rest day)

Some stretching while spendin 7 hours watchign Olympics - Brownlees AMAZING - 29:07 for 10km? 10 minutes quicker than my latest effort - UNREAL. Not tired at all from yesterday's race drop out. Felt like I'd not run at all except sore where my calvles had forced me to drop out (but even they're not too bad....)

Running race 15 [5] 3.0 km (5 / km)
shoes: Mud Claw 333

Blaise Blazer - started v fast but sadly left calf cramped (lucky to be cramp not a pull) on first switchback hill. Recovered from that, was overtaken by the Flying Agmen on a descent but then sadly another sharp twinge in my left calf and increasing pain in r.soleus (under / below calf) meant more stoppage on the fast road section in the valley. I hung in there, re-caught Mark B. when the hill started but far from the pain changing, it was getting worse. Did the right thing and dropped out. Hmm never mind. Perhaps I should start slower? Sod that I was loving it! I'll rethink my racing in September - and I think joining a regular evening training group would be a good start - 3 Southville Runners were banging out a good pace, so maybe go to them. Adam ran really well, as did Tim in 4th
