Orienteering race 1:06:46 [5] 11.15 km (5:59 / km) +195m 5:30 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

Army league, Brown, Barossa, 9.1 km/ 280m (!)

Just found out Farnborough was -11 today - Barossa was I thought minus 2, but with wind chill felt more like -6? Never been so cold, or wrapped up, for an O event. Still can't feel my EMIT fingertip as I type this.

Good course; though the starting (control picking) 4 controls were notable by the fact that orienteering was the last thing on my mind - i was wincing audibly with the cold. Later: Two errors - it's felt that control 11 (code 42) was too low, and I could not understand why i failed to find it easily (1-1.5 mins). All in my car (on another course) said the same. I'd been badly tripped by some rusty barbed wire just before, as well (not good: check tetanus state.....) - went down properly.

Nice thumb compass direct stuff for a lot of it. Post-fall , my thumb compass had a bubble in it: Ian from Ultrasport replaced it without question after I finished - amazing. (bought 6 weeks ago?).

Lost 1-2 mins on no 22 as couldn't make out "path" in the "snow" and took direct route - was poor visibilty in small planted trees- had no idea!!! Which re-entrant should it have been in???? Next leg i took silly route as pissed off & tired, and again, failed to find small snow covered "path".

Total brass monkey day out, but good. Second place, ahead of some who beat me in the New Forest, so others undoubtedly suffered in the conditions too. Good Army stuff! Yay.
