shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 212 (s17)

Dropped H and mum at the airport early doors and thought I may as well get a run out on this side of the Peak. Kept the climb fairly minimal but got some good terrain munching in for the best part of an hour. Out on Bleaklow for a loop then out and back to the downfall. Nice morning but bleary eyed and grumbly.

Running 46:30 [4] 12.58 km (3:42 / km) +169m 3:28 / km
shoes: Salming Distance D1

30s, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 30s (half recoveries).

Normally reserve this session for the winter because of the length but I'm not racing this weekend and it's been a while since I bashed out a big session. Wouldn't say I felt great but better than yesterday and was able to churn out some reasonable paces, aim was consistent tempo. Faster than previous times I've done it and a nice sunny evening. Reckon this was the kick up the arse I needed a bit.

Running warm up/down 12:08 [1] 2.75 km (4:25 / km) +50m 4:03 / km

Running 36:50 [2] 7.07 km (5:12 / km) +330m 4:13 / km

Over to Loxley. Hot, thick top and a bag.

Orienteering 34:14 [2] 5.34 km (6:25 / km) +132m 5:42 / km
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 212 (s17)

WOD event at Loxley. Map wasn't great and undergrowth ruined the area so rtd halfway. Felt very lethargic and a bit ill, didn't drink enough water and ate too soon before. Very stressed the last couple of days but the most difficult exam is done now.

Running 38:23 [2] 7.2 km (5:20 / km) +261m 4:31 / km
shoes: Salming Distance D1

Home, dead on my feet.

Running 50:09 [1] 9.9 km (5:04 / km) +246m 4:30 / km

Easy standard with Skids and Joe, brain felt frazzled to begin with but much more positive after.

Running 30:00 [2] 6.8 km (4:25 / km) +98m 4:07 / km
shoes: Salming Distance D1

Garmin playing up but just a standard pb 30. Felt alright, exam Wednesday so got it done earlier.
5 PM

Running 53:01 [2] 11.16 km (4:45 / km) +370m 4:04 / km
shoes: Salming Trail T2

Easy Rivelin and stannington after a long day grafting. Few thoughts on the weekend when I was out:
-physically feeling good based on both days and nice to know I can still push hard after a long
-happy with how my body has been recovering off the back of racing this year, felt good today
-despite enjoying Saturday, I am quite disappointed with my race. Looking at splits and routes I could have chilled out more and nailed the nav and sailed up the results
-another point is I ran vastly longer than everyone else, shifting well but the distance is too long. Partly this was mistakes but as they were confined to the circle this was only limited. I took a real lot of overly safe/round routes but when I did use my compass i was navigating well as evidenced by 14-21. Need to be more aggressive and back my technique I think.
