Not much to say. Hated the area, couldn't be arsed, tired and grumpy throughout. Orienteering wasn't bad to be honest, just didn't want to run up any hills. More than likely that yesterday was tougher than I expected. Leading up until number 10 or so after moving well but feeling tired through the first section. Twisted bad ankle a little on number 3 so hobbled for a while after a good curse and then a few hesitations. Overshot 8 but didn't loose much time, good through 9 and 10, stood above 11 before hitting it. Bad mapping on 12 but found it fine. Flowed well through 14/15/16/17 but no energy meant it was little more than a wog. Mistake on 18, not keeping on compass and relying on a crappy path so got dragged right and had to move round. More lethargy on the rest in the open, just got bored of slogging through brambles and brashings, probably at 9 and so just not bothered after that.

3rd on the course but only 2 minutes down so just a bit of a crappy slow run. Should have won comfortably and would have on a day when I felt fitter. As it is, map contact was bit iffy and then after that just not really running. Crappy area, crappy running just meh. Sort of day when I question why I do orienteering.

Running (Warm up/down) 30:00 [1] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: New balance 220 XC

Cheecky trundling with the team.

Running (National School XC) 28:26 [5] 7.12 km (4:00 / km) +144m 3:38 / km
shoes: New balance 220 XC

National Schools XC.
Course was pretty churned up and sticky and wet by now so times were slower for the big boys. Turns out the course was longer than it said. Started out pretty badly, not getting any places at all, boxed in from starting 5th in the pen. Spent the first 2 lap at a bloody slow pace before it breaking up in to the first hill. Climbed well, moving in to 2nd Leicester guy but not high enough to really give myself a chance position wise. Started the second lap pretty easily, just going through the motions, began gaining places though but not as fast as some of the guys over the flat. Gained more spaces, and moved ahead of Alex a bit more before him catching me more on on the downhill. Still flat on the flatter sections so no pushing capability. Tough last climb, pooped by the top so tried to push myself down the hill and gained some places. Hit the flat and was pretty tired by the end and lost out on a sprint finish. Don't know where I finished but the whole course was consistently a case of taking and being taken so pretty consistent throughout. Annoyed at the start though with being penned in. Finished 3rd LEI guy. 199th, bit disappointing position but really happy to have done it.
Amrik bagged 138th and I've beaten him in every league race this year, bollocks.

Not going to get much longer than this to the jk now. Steady through fields then dunton to the meadow. Steady lap, hard lap, easy lap then home. Feeling good and it's amazing what dry fields do.

Running (Hilltervals) 30:00 [4] 6.6 km (4:33 / km) +150m 4:05 / km
shoes: Inov-8 f-lite 195 (BR)

Garmin had died so everything is going from past runs and accurate guesses. Kept it short because of feeling crap yesterday. 6x450m~ uphill hard then cruise along the top and down back lane. Still sniffling a little and felt a bit heavy running but generally ok.
