Running (Warm up) 20:00 [2] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 190 (2)

Steady jogging, just getting the legs moving, then drills and burst. Not feeling too bad, legs a little slow turning over maybe.

Orienteering (Yvette Baker Final) 27:44 [4] 5.15 km (5:23 / km) +105m 4:53 / km
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 190 (2)

Point of this race was mainly to begin get my head in gear for Sweden in two weeks. Running H18E will be a challenge, no doubt about that, but the fact I have little pressure on me and I think I have a decent race/week plan in mind, I'm really looking forward to racing.

Started pretty well (it wasn't a technical area for the most part, a little grotty and tough running, but easy enough), nailing one, after lopping through the top. Similar story for 2, pushing hard over the early bit in the meadow, then contouring well after a slight hesitation over the ditch. Nice route to 3, using the rides well before seeing the control a mile off and punching it. Steady following the river up to 4 then straight to 5. Went right to 6, maybe should have gone left (not sure how much was in it), then straight through to 7. Map change over and my only real slip on the course, didn't wait for compass to set so strayed left losing maybe 30seconds (?). Found it though, then straight off the path corner past 6 to 9, before straight along the ridge to find 10. Easy to 11, nothing to it, then used the rides for 12 which was a bad choice I think and maybe where I lost some of my time to Ali. Hit the path for 13 heading straight off the corner again. Confused by the gates at the end, again losing a little time then up to 15 and finish.
Overall, can't complain about the race, kept my head and ran relatively well, I'll keep on the speed work, don't think I've lost much over terrain maybe just on roads. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks training then the serious business in 2 weeks time. About 1 min down on Ali, maybe could have pushed myself harder, but he had a stormer on the day so hats off. Getting there.

Running (Warm down) 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 190 (2)

Easy trot with Ali.

Easy warm up on the road and meadow

Orienteering (LEI Fosse Meadows) 34:39 [4] 7.5 km (4:37 / km) +35m 4:31 / km
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 190 (2)

Nice enough event down at fosse meadows, only 4km or so from my house. Not a particularly difficult course, but a few mistakes from not getting compass bearing and heading off the wrong way from controls. On the whole good, and running felt comfortable, so a good way of getting back in to it.

Running (Ullesthorpe Long) 47:37 [3] 9.76 km (4:53 / km) +114m 4:37 / km
shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 212

Kept it nice and easy tonight, not pushing, just happy to sit off and let my legs do the work. Didn't actually fancy it tonight, legs a little tight from the last day or two, but got in early from college and thought why not, there's only so much tennis you can watch. Standard across the fields and copses over to Ullesthorpe via Claybrooke. Then up the hill over the fields over to Ashby Parva and home on the road. Little too much road for x-talons perhaps, but parts of the fields definitely warranted it. Enjoyed myself and can't wait for summer now.

Running (Fartlek Intervals) 54:32 [4] 11.41 km (4:47 / km) +114m 4:33 / km
shoes: Inov-8 f-lite 195 (BR)

Headed out for another speed session, hitting the small roads around the villages. Found a new route as well, hitting Frolesworth, Ashby Parva, then a gorgeous road from there to Dunton, before heading back to Leire on the footpaths for a k then back up Back Lane to the railway and home. Really enjoyed it today, breathing was still a little heavy and chest a bit tight but better than yesterday. Efforts ranged from 300m-6/700m. Felt good pushing, perhaps a little tired towards the end but I can feel myself getting more and more comfortable.
