To be honest, i hadn't actually heard of this club before today so was a bit apprehensive as it was an hour for a 'country park'. Very pleasantly surprised when we arrived, it look fantastic. Rolling hills with open mixed woodland, some steep valleys chucked in as well; shame my form didn't live up to the terrain.
Started well, heading straight to 1 and accurate bearing off the path to 2. Took the long path route to 3 then straight again to 4 cutting past the lake. Easy to 5, then a slip on 5's exit so lost a bit of time to 6 and basically I was knackered. I think the lock in took it's toll as my legs had nothing in them (18hours on my feet on friday night, most doing sport). Poor to 7, cut in the gate and back out for no reason but then flowed well through 8-11, taking it easy because i just couldn't move. Again slow as hell to 12, then switched the map over, another poor exit but more or less straight for 1.6/7km on a line which felt great. Slow on 14 and 15 but found them ok. Steady through 16, a good route cutting in early and jumping the stream. Hill to 17 nearly did me in then again just flowing nicely through 18 and 19, across the road to 20 (small circle slip). Yet again straight to 21 then kept my head well through the tricky green bits at the end so I was very happy with these 2 controls and then the finish.
Navigation wise, this was a very positive race, however I was just a goner when it came to running. 5th on results but I can't have another run like this before the JK, need to be thinking race practice so Interland next week should be a real boost for that. Rest tomorrow, done in.
