Note

As it turns out, chip timing got me as 36:31 so an even better run than I thought.
10 AM

Running (Warm up) 18:06 [2] 3.33 km (5:26 / km) +4m 5:24 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Musha 4

Warm up before 10k, body feeling good, benefits of having a bit of a taper week(unofficial). Jogged 2k then drills and sprints with some dynamic stretching, not quite sure what to expect from this.

Running race (Markfield 10k) 36:31 [5] 10.01 km (3:39 / km) +112m 3:27 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Musha 4

Leicestershire Winter Road Running Series-Markfield 10km.

Finally, I've joined a running club (Huncote Harriers). I've wanted to do some more races for some months but just have never had the time.
Annoyingly, got forced to the back a bit at the start so couldn't get in with the faster runners at the start and for the first 1.5km, I was just cruising past people at around 3:25's trying to catch up with those of a similar pace. First 1.5 were pretty gradually down hill and was sat in maybe 50th. Hit the bottom of the hill up o Thornton and felt great so just breezed up it, still taking people and quickly realized that I still wasn't running with the runners i wanted to. Overtook Ben Massa who I run against at park runs and normally beat by maybe a minute so knew i had to push on. Down the hill to the flat along the reservoir, still taking people all the time which I found odd because I felt so comfortable. Hit the hill at the other side and pushed to try and catch the next few so I wasn't running on my own. Worked well and stuck with these as we hit the long flat on the way back to Misterton. (Ishould add at this stage that the wind was blowing North/East and so for the whole of the race so far it had been in our faces.). We headed along the long section (I didn't realise that it was also slightly uphill until afterwards). Dropped the 'hill pack' and pushed myself to catch the 2 striped runners in front and caught them just as we went over the motorway bridge. This was at maybe 6km and saw that my pace was dropping but with the wind and the slight hill, I didn't want to run on my own so stuck in with the other 2 guys and took the next k with them. In to Markfield and down the slight slope (7.25km at the bottom). Still feeling good, then another hill which I hadn't seen on the race map, so legs were a tad groany but stuck at it and drove up the hill with the other 2 guys. One of the put on a sprint at 8km which I thought was odd so hung back at my pace with the other guy and looped down and round the road to the last hill up to 9km. This was tough but could have felt worse, struggled slightly to get breathe back afterwards but had caught up the 2 yellow vests that I'd been keeping in contact with for the last 3km. Tough last section, completely flat and wind straight in our faces, but a decent competitive finish with the yellow's and stripes, coming in all together really.
Pretty happy with how i ran, first 10k since my disastrous run in Weedon in the summer, however no side pains this time which was a real bonus. This was never going to be a PB race as the wind and a surprising amount of hill were present. really didn't know there was this much hill but felt i tackled it well. Also the first Harrier to finish on my debut so happy with that. Not sure on position, I'll update later and time may need adjusting as this is from my watch not the chip time.
Note:
Fairly sure I lost maybe 30seconds or perhaps mroe from my starting position as I was slow and had no one to race.
Splits:
3:22.4, 3:32.4, 3:21.8, 4:00.0, 3:42.3, 3:43.0, 3:48.6, 3:57.3, 3:44.5, 3:43.7
Relatively consistent splits, the 4 minute is where the most hill was so not overly worried. However it is clear that I'm slipping down with pace in the last half so need to correct this with more speed work. Good race.

Running (Warm down) 10:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Musha 4

Didn't garmin it but just a trot back down the road cheering the others on.

Running (Short Dunton ) 40:00 [2] 7.51 km (5:20 / km) +69m 5:06 / km
shoes: Inov-8 f-lite 195 (BR)

Steady trot, didn't want to do too much because of mark field 10k tomorrow. Forgot garmin so time is estimate. Felt ok. Tough with wind and mud to get in to any sort of rhythm.

Running (Treadmill Intervals) 25:00 [4] 5.77 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Musha 4

8x1:30 at 3:40's (lower intensity because of 10k on Sunday). Overall pace is average of recovery + intervals. Felt of still a niggle in riget lower calf and was losing form. Never enjoy doing these on treadmills.

Strength and conditioning (Core+stretching) 30:00 [2]

Core session, low weight high reps. Then 10mins stretching before Sunday+foam rolling. Not sure about tomorrow probably steady around short dunton before some more stretching.

Note
(rest day)

Taking it easy as there's signs of a couple of niggles arising. Run tomorrow, not sure for the weekend's plans yet

Running (Cross Country) 43:12 [3] 8.79 km (4:55 / km) +50m 4:47 / km
shoes: Inov-8 f-lite 195 (BR)

Standard cross country training, but conditions were again awful, not too bad a run though.

Running (Home) 27:13 [1] 5.16 km (5:16 / km) +14m 5:12 / km
shoes: Inov-8 f-lite 195 (BR)

Steady trot home on the roads, was going to shove in some intervals but just felt dead.

Strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

General core session, core felt tough but not too bad after my shift. No run because of a hard weekend. School hockey tomorrow (never played in my life but turns out I'm on goal?). Then intervals and football in the evening.
