Three factors explaining a slower run than last time on the cross country track - windy conditions, tired after a solid week of training and 2 beers last night. Lots of roos spectating today beside the track.
10 AM

walking 1:50:00 [3] 8.54 km (12:53 / km) +200m 11:32 / km

Pack training walk with Liz to top of Stromlo and back - I carried 14 kgs - was helped a bit by the dog pulling the whole way up. Cool conditions. Nice coffee at the top before descending. Good news is I found the leak in my bladder - that is the camelbak bladder. Now to try and fix it.

Friday Jan 12, 2018 #

Peloton of 4 with a variation for the Friday ride - followed pipeline road along Molonglo River to Coppins crossing before head to the arboretum from the west side - fitting into a visit to STEP - Southern Tableland garden. Coffee break before going back a more direct day - 2 very steep hills today. Overcast conditions helpful given 35C expected later today.

Clawed back 30 seconds I lost on the last run on the cross country track. Nicer running weather might have helped - plus also a long warm up by jogging to the track from home and use of the gps watch to monitor heart rate rather than focussing on the time. Hit max heart rate near the end of run (assuming 220 minus 65 is the max for me). Ave heart rate was 143.

Wednesday Jan 10, 2018 #

ride with Peter 1:50:00 [3] 39.0 km (2:49 / km) +100m 2:47 / km

Peloton of 5 for LGB hit out. Fast pace helped by Vern fitting aero bars to his roadie - no competition on the hill sprint tho - I was not even chased by a shadow due to overcast conditions. Beat Brad to top of our hill after ride home - helped by the fact he is still riding a hybrid bike as he recovers from a sore neck.

Cross country track run - legs and core felt good - breathing all over the shop. Shows what a bit over a week off does (plus 2 weeks since last run on the track). Left over a minute somewhere on the track compared to last run here. Nice and overcast running conditions.

Short hit out on single tracks at Stromlo - hopeful will loosen my sore neck a bit. Marginally cooler today but still recovering from the horror heatwave on the weekend.
