Formed an early solo breakaway and held of the imaginary peloton for the whole race. Rode around the West Basin of Lake Burley Griffen (LBG) from home and back again. Lots of bike riding groups and a few walkers on the path - about time we duplicated the path to reduce congestion on a Saturday morning - calling WA for a GST injection. Virtually no wind and cool early morning conditions.

Took the pooch, with Liz, to top of Mt Stromlo for coffee only to find the coffee shop was shut/closed down - no signs but no furniture either!. So walked back down, past our place to Duffy coffee shop. Tough life.

Peloton of 2 and without Peter who was still working on his deck. Strong head wind on the way back from the west - nice if WA could keep its wind to itself. Cut ride a bit shorter (did not go around East Basin) as needed to get back to meet a tradie - who has yet to turn up anyway.

MTB 50:56 [3] 12.75 km (4:00 / km) +335m 3:32 / km

To top of Mt Stromlo via Fence Line and Cockatoo Switchback single tracks and down via Luge, Old Duffy Descent and Brittle Gums. Very slow going down Luge - forgotten how hairy it is. Large mob of roos relaxing under the brittle gums as I went thru - they did not move.

Peleton of 1 - so no slackers today - and a new world record for me on the LBG hit out (round the lake loop from home) - albeit I did it backwards (i.e. not riding backwards but in the reverse direction to normal). Stopped for a black betty (specialist coffee) at the Cupping Room (where Kate works) on the way home which might have helped. 12 minutes quicker than on Wednesday!
