ride with Peter 1:37:47 [3] 39.71 km (2:28 / km) +334m 2:22 / km

Peloton of 4 but without Peter who was working on his "deck" (said without a kiwi accent) . Won the hill sprint after I ended up in no mans land approaching the hill over the dam wall between another riding group and our peloton. Went early and flew past the other group and had enough of a lead to hold of Brad and Des. The other group included my GP and when they again passed us after the sprint he said he would see me soon - perhaps expected I might have a cardiac arrest?

Very nice riding weather - lots of talk about South America after Des went there recently for a holiday.

MTBO 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km) +177m 5:42 / km

ACT Long Distance MTBO champs and a flat tyre on the way to control 3 ended my race - thankfully I was not far from the assembly area as had to walk about 500 metres - had a spare tube but felt that too much time would be lost doing a change. Plus was confused on rule number 4001 on MTBO - map had some purple small (and I mean small) lines on some tracks which I assumed was not crossable - found out later it was just an obstacle you could go around or over - I had back tracked about 300 metres on one track after I spotted one! Why do orienteers try to complicate life?? Nice weather and Liz got another 2nd place in W50.
