Rode with Liz on another 'grannies" recce" ride. Stopped at Duffy for coffee then read the sad news about the Indian Pacific wheel race second place rider getting killed just outside Canberra early this morning. I had seen his tracker on the screen stopped there before we rode so was sort of looking out for him on our ride as it was partly on the planned route for the race. Bummer.

O race 25:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

Actually a training session on Campbell Park put on by one of the scholars - cold and wet so as a result only 6 of us there - enjoyable running in the light rain - time and distance a guess. Control picking sort of exercise with forking.

Yoga 1:10:00 [3]

Usual stuff.

Peloton of 1 as cannot make the usual Wednesday ride so did the lake loop today. Won the post dam hill sprint - quite easily! Fast time as riding conditions were very nice. Plus emptied the water bottle before the climb up our hill to reduce weight. Not sure how I can check it against past times for this ride tho.

Back to reality - ACT Middle Distance Champs on Issacs Ridge - first time that both I and Liz have ran on this map - 4th in M65A (9 minutes down on NickD) and about a minute slower than Liz!. Blew 2 minutes on control 2 and another 2 minutes on 9. Both cases losing contact on 200 metre legs and pulling up short (first time) and below the control (second time). Also a bit too hesitant on some legs (e.g. 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 lost 1 minute on each with wide route choices - according to winsplits ) - was able to run longer legs OK tho. Plus fastest split on leg 10 to 11. Nice event - challenging but fair course and more importantly the body held up during both events this weekend.
