NSW Long Champs and 4th place after a pretty physical course with fine granite nav in the circle. Generally happy with run - bit slow on the long leg to 6 which was uphill nearly the whole way (16 contours) in about a km - felt I could only really walk this leg as fast as possible - needed fine nav as well to make sure you got the right clearings and rock slabs as virtually no control features on the slope to use as an attack point for 6 - was also slow getting down to 7 just because I did not want to fall - others took more risks I expect. Only other less than stellar effort was the long leg to 8 where I accidentally chose a good route choice but was hesitant as I mistook a cleared area and was 200 metres further ahead and on a different line to what I expected I was for about a 5 minute period. Having a gel helped me get thru this race. Found it easier to read the map detail today, despite a lot of sweat in the eyes too often - bring on some cold weather please.
