Orienteering (Deaflympics Training) 2:15:00 [3]

At National Chung Cheng University - Chia-yi, Taiwan. We were training with climbing for about 45 minutes and stretching for about 45 minutes. There were unbelievable swamp of mesquitos so decided to quit. Also, the heat and humidity are high. Not like our Washington, DC weather.

It has been very hectic due packing and prepare for Deaflympics. One of the editor for Backpack magazine interview us. Today, bwe are flying to LAX to meet all the USA team and athletics and packing again with their USA duffel bag. Need to go now to "shut down" our house for away.

Last training before all of us US Deaf Orienteering team ahead for Taiwan on this Wednesday. We used DVOA Green course map from last year.

I decided to orienteering and pick up controls same time. Oh man! It was no fun cuz of many area were light and medium green. Not easy to go through with bag of controls and water. It was very humid and very warm. Feel heat exhausted and bad headache. I am ok now but tired.

It was hot and humid but when enter into the woods. Feel much cooler and still sweating anyway. There were 15 controls. Did pretty good until control #12 and #14. Lost about couple of minutes with error route.

It was last day for Wednesdays training hosted by Ted Good. I arrived at the church right next to Patapsco state park around 6:15 but didn't start until around 6:40. Oh man! when I started about 10 meters my leg went into a deep pit about 1 and half meter then got up. About another 5 meters went into pit again. Ouch! my right ankle sprained but got up and continue run until I couldn't see the map due dark. So, didn't get all the controls but did ok orienteering.

Long drive to Mt. Penn about 2 hours and 45 minutes drive. Didn't do it well cuz I was sloppy and careless read the map. Its probably over tired.

Special event hosted by Ted Good and this is the 8th Squirrel Kill. It was so different and so much fun. But outpouring like hell but keep myself cool off and stay clean.
