SSS-Mark Twain (Rock Creek Regional) in Rockville, MD - very warm @ 90 degree and humidity. Dave O was the host and gave some training on map. It called corridors on the map. We were suppose rely on the compass only but if got mess up then turn around the back of the map with full details. I only did once on control #5. I seems got mess up the compass to off course when across the bridge from #4. I went to far to east about 50-70 meters. I thought I was on the right path when saw rootstocks. Nope, there were another rootstocks on the eastside too. My back was bothering most of the time. After that, several of us went to the California Tortilla for dinner and eat at outside. Long chatted with Patt, Kris, Caitlin, Ted, Peggy, Nadim, Max, Heidi and Dave then went to Ben and Jerry for cold yummy. It was great time and fun. I think SSS is super!

Walk - Fast Pace 1:17:22 [2]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom

Patti rather to walk than run so we both took a fast walk along on Piney Orchard Nature trail. Still...... the horseflies were annoyed at us. It seems different kind of flies from last month. There were a couple who walked by us. They wore "net" over their face. We were discussed about future SSS in Piney Orchard but need a base map. I'm having hard time to find the base map of that area. Hope one day, I will find one.

Prince Williams Forest in temp @ 95 degrees! but the humidity seems not too bad. Kris Beecroft hosted the SSS with 4.0km and 13 controls. Whoa! the e-punching were using for SSS first time. I think. This time, I was only practice on contours. Didn't care about my running time. After that, few of us went to Panera Bread and chat til around 7:45pm. I really enjoyed the SSS and after SSS too.... :-)

Note

At Eastern Deaf Timberfest June 25th - 29th http://www.easterndeaftimberfest.org/home.html in Elmer, NJ for camping and education in orienteering. We did setup a booth under big tent with many other vendors and exhibitions. We offer some basic training orienteering for the deaf adults, teenagers and kids. Also, we offer an orienteering on the camp area for fun and prizes. There were about 30 adults, 37 kids and only 2 teenagers raced O's. The kids age from 8 - 13 were the most ethusiasm and a few adults. The events continued until end of June 29th Saturday. The Timberfest committee asked us to come back to host O' next year. It seems successful and the people enjoyed it.
