Worked my way thru Peggy Brill's beginner core routine. Woke up feeling tired and with a tweaked neck. Lounged around and took a nap before deciding to not ascend Near Point today.

Beautiful summery day. While the stats say we had record-high rainfall in both June and July, I remember little but these gorgeous days since early May. Shorts and a tank top! Sure didn't feel good or go fast, but I was out there. Walked the three hills on the gas line, of course. Hip rotator didn't hurt for a couple days, but started up again a couple hours before this trot. Working out the knots with a tennis ball is pretty effective.
One full set of shoulders plus Lucy's easies while watching video about switchyards and substations. Gorgeous day, but I came home from work and had beers on the deck with Jodie A instead of a trot.
Lucy's easies, Marie-Cat's strength for Oers minus the hammies that always result in cramps, and full set of shoulders with 1# weights. All while watching two videos on electrical transmission and distribution systems. (Maybe some more as I watch 'Switchyards and Substations' later tonight!)

Training night up at Jen and Ian's house, which is on the side (near the top) of a mountain. She had set up some compass routes, and some corridors meant for following vegetation. It was good practice in interpreting vegetation, and pacing, and compassing. And the hill back up was brutal. Mostly it wasn't running because the vegetation is so awful from fallen hardened spruce, some lurking within the tall grass. Lots of crawling under logs and generally trying not to be tripped or stabbed by hidden spruce. I'm quite proud of myself for finding all the controls with little problem. My fitness is abysmal. The beer and camaraderie at the end were wonderful. Just Jen, Ian, Springer, Mike R., Dela, Steve (who revealed he is taking on a foster-to-adopt child later this week). Made a date with Dela to help her think about paces.

Skipped out of work just a tad early because it was 70 degrees and clear and the mountains were beckoning. Felt pretty decent. 1:46 to the top. Hip rotator didn't hurt (then). Same issue with the right hip as last time I did this hike. I have a plan for it.
