Hike up the Bear Valley ridge toward McHugh Peak. With Gillian and Al. A leisurely pace, esp once we reached the top. Lovely day. LOTS of flowers in bloom.

Note

What used to be wonderful massages with Leslie have morphed over 10 years from 1.5 hours of bliss and maybe a spot of snoozing, to targeted pain to work kinks out of tailbone area, to downright painful digging/prying, to rolfing. She's newly trained and is working me through the sequence, with detours to fix up my painful parts. She's diagnosed my hip issue to a flabby inactive psoas, which forces some other hip flexor to do all the work, which strains some tendon, and also whacks my knee out. Not sure I got that all right, but it sounds reasonable. I'm going to do a private session with JJ to get myself some exercises. And maybe doing them will fix me back up. I certainly haven't been very motivated when not able to trot. (Tho' not sure I'm heading back out into the skeeters right away...)

orienteering race (Mosquit-O!!!) 1:41:18 intensity: (1:40 @1) + (11:25 @2) + (48:26 @3) + (39:47 @4) *** 4.4 mi (23:01 / mi)

Unbelievable mosquitoes!! Last night I counted 37 bites on one thigh. I was like a crazed animal trotting along out there. It was very stressful. Probably good mental training. But I didn't quit, and actually navigated pretty well. Took a couple routes over hills in hopes of catching a little breeze for relief. Nominal 5.6 km. Finished 7/8 finishers. I see on Garmin track, which starts sometime after the race start, that I unintentially faded to the right on three legs.
