Started out the door thinking I'd do a little speed workout -- first in 30 years!! -- preparation for the Pig. But was hit by a sudden snow squall that dampened my enthusiasm. Turned around to quit, but that turned me away from the wind and I could see again. So thought I'd trot a bit. Ended up trotting around the block! 'Ran' the whole way, too. I'm quite proud of myself. I don't think I could have done that a year ago, and definitely not 2 years ago.

on mostly packed trails with mashed potato snow. trotted a few little bits.
Up panorama, denali view trails, across white spruce up to blueberry cutoff, down south rim trail and panorama. Felt kind of blah tho it's a beautiful day.

Made 2nd or 1st pass on single track trails after our new foot of fluffy snow. Pulling my feet back up out of the untracked snow is probably good training for lifting my feet a bit more to reduce O tripping incidents. I'm lovin' the new snowshoes. Such an incredibly beautiful evening. Full sun. Blue sky. Alpenglow-y light peach-pink color on the snow and trees. Deep snow looks like marshmallow fluff. Looks like winding around on the trails produces a more heart-rate-consistent workout, rather than the usual downhill-uphill. My legs may be starting to feel stronger on uphills (I don't want to jinx that tho'). My biking rain pants (Showers Pass) seem to do the trick for shedding the snow that gets flipped up my backside. Got a bit cold coming back up the hill against the frigid 8-degree air draining down the mountainside. Dan had a nice toasty fire going when I got home.
