Started a bit late in the day to go pick up flags that Dan had hung out for Turkey-O. By now, there were enough tracks in the snow to have helped me find a couple. But doing it in half-light probably made up for any advantage. And my compass fell apart as I left the house. I tried to just use the setting sun as SSW, but that didn't work so well after it had set... Never did find #9; neither did 1 or 2 others... The cold didn't help my performance any, nor the frosty glasses. I didn't put much effort into the running. Ran into Dwight I out there at dark as I was headed to #12. He was going to #12 and 13 so I asked him to just pick them up and I headed home. Some of the views were so amazingly beautiful at sunset! Volcanos across the inlet, reflection of the inlet, beautiful gradient of sunset hues, lights of the city. Body felt fine. About 10 degrees, with cold downslope drift.

While I've had a pretty nice time trotting/walking the past couple days, I don't want to overdo it on my legs and end of taking a step backward. Both my knees feel a little swollen. So, I took a little walk just before dark. Started up the panorama trail but was intrigued by a side trail, so followed that as it angled down to meet the first (south of T-line) segment of the south rim trail. Didn't break a sweat. Good enough. I need to work on some serious leg strength and get my glutes stretched out.

Trotted down to Campbell Creek, crossed, left toward Stuckagain, then up side trail to Wolverine turn-off (mostly walking), down main trail to home. walked most of the way up the last hill from the creek because of belly ache (long preceding downhill) and tight hammies. enjoyed myself. thought about possibly setting some training or performance goals. temperature pretty good. 14 degrees. then tested out the new sauna and gave it a seal of approval. It took me 'til 3 pm to feel good today - just wanted to nap. Probably dehydration. Had trouble getting enough water during household chaos yesterday.
