orienteering race (WCOC middle w/ marmar) 2:18:34 intensity: (1:29:44 @0) + (38:55 @1) + (9:13 @2) + (42 @3) *** 2.99 mi (46:18 / mi) +491ft 40:04 / mi

Walked it with MarMar, with her doing most of the navigation. I learned how hard it is to keep track of where I am when I'm following someone else. We got pretty lost a couple times. Marmar is a more intuitive navigator than I am.

Did half of NAOC Training #9 at Westmoreland Sanctuary. Started too late in day to do whole route. I certainly had trouble navigating to the exact right place, but I did eventually find all the ones I looked for. Nice area. about 1/3 of it too rocky for me to trot.

orienteering (harriman training) 1:47:59 intensity: (19:59 @0) + (39:27 @1) + (28:05 @2) + (20:28 @3) 2.78 mi (38:49 / mi) +606ft 32:11 / mi

Dan and I headed out on separate maps for training at Harriman. I'd have liked some more time there. We agreed on two hours total, so I walked/warmed up for 15 minutes en route to the start, then used 1/2 my time heading out, and the rest picking up as many controls as I could on the way back. It was quite rocky so I didn't run much, and took my time trying to match features on the map with the ground. I had trouble finding one control, then apparently got way lost looking for another. Ended up stumbling upon it (I think, it matched the feature anyway) on my way back to the car, picked up a few more. Need to figure out what to do with a shoe bending at a location that bugs my foot...
