Walk from the Teepees up to the Blue Mesa Trail and back. Ironically, I couldn't follow the trail, even with 8 pages of instructions. Kept turning off it. I think my mind wanders and so do I.

Very leisurely. Hiked to where a naturalist told us there was a great display of petrified trees. Beautiful.

Planned better than yesterday, and set times for when I needed to be where in order to finish on time. Couldn't be late two days in a row. Enjoyed my potato chip snack 1/2 way thru. One serious navigational mistake; otherwise, lots of little ones. My shoes kept getting shorter with the accumulation of sand in them. Won't wear mesh shoes next time I O in the desert. Ended with blackened toenails. Lots of fun.

Felt crummy - lack of sleep, I think. Had to 'run' the 22 minutes in to the finish, which was miserable. I made it less than a minute late. Great fun, even if slow on the navigation and running. Only one serious mistake -- went up the wrong reentrant in 'the maze'.

Employed O skills for something useful - trying to navigate to property we own near Talkeetna that we haven't visited in >10 years. Got pretty close before starting to run out of warmth and daylight. Long walk on gravel road then bushwacking.

Wolverine trail to the first boulder. Slimy autumn freeze-thaw mud made footing unpleasant for upper 1/2 mile. Glad we turned around when we did.
