Brrr. A bit of a walk before dark. And salvaged a few birch logs from the gasline clearing.

Brisk breezy day. Cold toes. Felt like I haven't been getting any exercise in a few months. But a beautiful day.

Lame little trot. A couple inches of snow made for bad traction, but that's not my limiting factor. But the snow bikes weren't going any faster than I was.

High HR is fibrillation or bad connection - not exertion. Down to Campbell Creek. Preoccupied with thoughts so not too painful. Trotted the whole way except a few steps.

Yup, I really did completely skip exercise for the full work week again. Hard to motivate in the dark and when I have a ton of work work to do to keep my head above water.
Single track is good for trotting now - about an inch of snow and some ice. O spikes are the right footwear. Felt pretty grim, and walked all the large uphills. But I was out there. A nice day. Clear, with views. The sound of the grass rubbing together in the slight breeze was nice.

Major error getting to #3. Rest of the errors were sub-ideal route choices, but I didn't really have any trouble finding any of the controls. The pair of guys I leapfrogged with may have led me into 1-2. I'm happy enough. I did a lot right. Hill out of #2 just about killed me. Really enjoyed the 3-4 leg, after I had just tightened my shoes and where i felt like I was reading the terrain like a real orienteer might. Hesitant on most legs, as usual. I totally missed the better 7--8 route choice, which avoided the hills. Didn't rush much during the race. Didn't come in dead last but had to push it to stay ahead of two guys that I leapfrogged with the whole race. I might have gone faster if I'd been in touch with anyone else. Wish i had pushed it a bit more. Hills weren't as bad as yesterday, or perhaps my expectations of my hill climbing ability were lower. I was perhaps a tiny bit smarter about diagonaling up hills. And it was cooler. Really enjoyed the day and the weekend. Enjoyed seeing people and o'ing new terrain. Weekend re-inspired me. And camping was super nice. Next meet - perhaps GA navigator cup.

Green middle at Pacheco State Park. No substantial navigational errors. Hills en route to 7 and 8 just about killed me. Sidehilling caused a big blister on the ball of one foot. more later...

Garmin never did figure out where it was. Little stroll in Henry Coe to try to get a look at Pacheco-like terrain. Bright sun, beautiful day.

Walk n talk with Liz on Chester Creek trail. More social than exercise. Rescued a stolen bike and dumped it at the trailhead.

First trot in 2 weeks. Walked most of the way back up the hill. Seems like LOTS more down trees along the single track trails from the recent storms. But maybe just because the leaves are off. I welcome this unusually warm weather but it's sure dark. Route: Hive to full Hornet's Nest to Stinger, back up Janice's Jive.
