A lovely evening for a ride around the Heritage Trail with 27 other riders - first offroad practice ride for the year. Trail was mostly in good shape with some stretches of scary loose surface. Very dry and lots of dust made it a bit hard to see through the assorted lights and flashing taillights. Two bikes had mechanicals early on but the flying plumber fixed them both and they made it around. Excellent pizzas at Mundaring gave us all a big boost. Bike went like a train - just need to toughen up the rider :-)

Cycling warm up/down (pre FROG ride) 29:31 [1] 4.15 km (7:06 / km)
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Overestimated the time needed to cross the river and got a quick run up Tonkin Hwy with the workers, so I was ready to go for the FROG ride at 08:15.
Went for a quiet spin around the lakes at Maylands - always nice to see how the poor people are doing. Things are still happening there - passed a couple of vacant blocks and then got caught in a cul-de-sac chock full of a concrete pumping truck and a flotilla of tradies' utes. Bit of a surprise when I passed simmo between the golf club and the police complex - according to his log he was less surprised - didn't recognise me at all, apparently.

Cycling (FROG ride pt1) 53:08 [2] 16.17 km (3:17 / km) +3m 3:17 / km
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Cool morning for a change as we rolled down the city side of the river from Maylands to Windan, across to the Burswood side and down the shiny new path near the movies and there's already two guys cutting through it with a concrete saw. How hard is it to put the retic or power or whatever in before you lay the path? More path destruction near the South Perth ferry terminal but uneventful after that to Bayside for coffee and shirt sizing and random late arrivals and endless chat. Took forever.

Cycling (FROG ride pt2) 49:20 [2] 14.43 km (3:25 / km) +1m 3:25 / km
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Return via EQ, Matagarup, circumnavigated Optus, over Windan and back to Maylands. Not much to report other than the sun had come out.
