Orienteering race (Chasing Sprint) 30:18 [4] **** 3.5 km (8:39 / km)
13c shoes: Adidas Swoop 2s
Prologue for the JOK Chasing Sprint in Holyrood Park. Messed up No. 9 badly (although the map was not great - plenty of unmarked paths that were indistinguishable from the marked ones). Stunning backdrop for the start - just below the summit of Arthur's Seat - and great views around the rest of the course too. Another cold, crisp day.
Orienteering race (Chasing Sprint) 26:30 [4] **** 3.2 km (8:17 / km)
12c shoes: Adidas Swoop 2s
The Chase of the JOK Chasing Sprint. Had no one to chase as had finished so poorly in the prologue. So had a good run and made up a few places - after messing up the first control. It was only 30m from the start, there was a pile of spectators on the hill overlooking it that freaked me out! Grr.
Event: EUOC Burns Weekend City Race
Orienteering race (Urban Race) 54:19 [5] **** 6.57 km (8:16 / km)
shoes: Adidas Adistar Salvations
EUOC Edinburgh City Race. Brilliant. Course included Carlton Hill and Princes Street Gardens. Cold and crisp day. Finished 32nd of 144 on the long course, 23rd of 55 in Men's Open (MO). What other kind of orienteering race these days has 55 runners in MO! Top of the table was dominated by locals (EUOC/ESOC/INT) - Ed had the top non-local result in 7th place.
