District Event at Shorne and Ashenbank Woods near Cobham, in Kent's Medway. Ran the Brown course again. I had a reasonably clean run apart from a couple of silly minor mistakes in the intricate section near the end, and a couple of poor route choices.
I finished third out of 26 runners. The person who finished second caught up with me about half way round and overtook me when, going too fast to read the map properly, took a poor route. I saw him at several later controls though.
The first part of the race, in Ashenbank Wood, wasn't particularly interesting. I played it safe and went along paths, the wood looked pretty brambly (getting to this first section was quite exciting though - at one point the control description said "Do not attempt to cross the A2" - which at that point is an eight-lane motorway, with the high-speed Eurostar railway on the other side - so good advice.)
It was the latter section that was interesting - some short legs requiring quick and accurate map reading, and some good route choice legs too.
