TVOC Summer Series at Bloom Wood. Bit of a marathon to get to the event - just over two hours door to door. It was pouring with rain at Marlow too, but it stopped in time for the event. The race was a mass start, three loops of the forest. I had the two shortest loops (X, Y) first, unfortuantely everybody running the long loop (Z) first took so long that when I came back to pick up my Z map, there were none left! So I had to jog on the spot for 3.5 minutes until a Z-loop runner came in - I've deducted this from my time. I was beaten by Ian and Roger only, so finishing third for the third time in my three events attended this series.

I did manage to make a number of mistakes, which was poor for this kind of race. On leaving the penultimate control for Loop Y, I was running hard as I had just gone into the lead and was keen to hold on to it - I promptly made a parallel error and curved up the hill, running onto a control I had previously visited. I punched it before realising and dropping back down the hill - perhaps a minute lost here and I was overtaken again by a couple of people.

I'm pleased with my finish - I came steaming down a hill, almost out of control, and shot across an open area before I could turn and swing back through the finish. It was just as well - the fourth placed person was right behind.

Mistake analysis:
To Y6: Parallel error (60s)
To Z1: Vague map (30s)
To Z3: Poor navigation (30s)
To Z7: Poor route choice (30s)
Cycling (To/From Station) 1:04:11 [3] 23.05 km (2:47 / km)
To work, then later to Paddington and then back home. Great fun powering along the big Euston Road after dark at 35 km/h.
