CHIG District Event at Epping Forest North. I ran in at the same event in November last year, and, like then, it was very cold and crisp, but dry. I like the Epping maps, they are generally flat, with a nice combination of Scandinavian-style technical bits, and long route choice legs.

After a couple of silly early mistakes in the technical bit I messed up last time, I had a good race, with no further significant mistakes. I won the race, beating 53 other finishers, including quite a few people who generally beat me. :-) I enjoyed the course design, with a nice technical but flat first section, then some good route choice legs with plenty of quick decisions to be made, finishing in another techincal area. I took this last section very fast - risky, and normally I get lost. I got lucky this time though, I made a dog's dinner of it from last year's race.

Afterwards, I had a nice lunch in the adjacent restaurant, looked through Pete's Venice map and the Portugal O Meet flyer, and then cycled back down to the station, stopping to take a few cliched Autumnal photos. Epping Forest was looking very fine indeed.

Mistake analysis - 30s+ mistakes only:
2 - Poor navigation (1m 30s)
12 - Hesitated (45s)
C • Good run! 5
Note
I took my GPS around today's race. I'll download the data file later, and see if I can overlay my track on the map. It's a rubbish GPS though, I suspect it didn't get a satellite fix most of the way around. Update: Looks like it worked well for most legs, now to figure out how to transfer it to the map.
Jogging warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
Warming down with Pete, along a trail in Epping Forest. The forest is looking lovely at this time of the year.
