Decided to crack on and race anyway because 900m climb can't hurt. Steady at the start as per my coach's instruction. Pushed on Great Rigg and Fairfield to catch people up. Thought we'd dropped John Helm but he got back on Hart Crag. I've never been run away from over rocks before but he was smooth. I snapped a little on Dove Crag but managed to get back on by the top. The next couple were a few hundred metres ahead but catchable. I pushed quite hard on the flatter part of the descent, got to them in a tired state and was running poorly and tripping up. Decided to settle in behind. John came back to us and passed us all. They all ran away from me on the last part of the descent and the track, which I'd thought I'd saved myself for, but no.

Calf no worse after than Friday. Will take next week easy and keep up stretching and rolling.
